Review: Beeutiful Skincare

*Gifted Products

I was fortunate enough to meet Carly from Beeutiful at a networking event for local businesses. After giving an informative talk on all that she has achieved in the last 5 years we had the opportunity to view and purchase the products she makes from home. All products have been individually created by Carly and have honey as their main ingredient. This honey comes directly from her own hives and she ensures that nothing goes to waste and, more importantly, that the bees are treated well and are always left with enough honey for themselves… I was unaware of the ins and outs of beekeeping but Carly is on top of bee conservation and environmental care.

“Beeutiful provides affordable handmade skin care products made from 100% natural ingredients that care for, assist and treat even the most sensitive of skin whilst supporting British bees. The product range was created from using locally sourced beeswax and honey from our own hives, both priceless in their value to your skin.”

I was asked to review 3 of these amazing Beeutiful Skincare products and I jumped at the chance! I was gifted the B-Balm for Jake’s dry skin, a lip balm for my dry lips and a Beeutiful body candle as a lovely treat.

Beeutiful Skincare Review

B-Balm

B-balm has antiseptic properties provided by lavender and tea tree plus the healing abilities from honey, St.Johns Wort and Calendula. I mentioned to Carly that each time Jake gets a cold or run down the corner of his mouth becomes dry, peels and bleeds. I have visited the doctor previously about this and they confirmed it isn’t a cold sore but just a symptom of being ill and recommended that I used steroid cream as a remedy. We already had steroid cream for his eczema which occasionally flares up but after a few uses on his lip, I was becoming worried about thinning an area of skin that was already very thin to begin with. We saw no improvement so switched to Savlon which took over a week to start the healing process… with each application being a huge battle– Savlon doesn’t feel or taste nice!

Carly highly recommended her B-balm and assured me that after several days his lip would heal. Being the clever parent that I am, I explained to Jake that the balm was made by magic bees who gave their honey to help others. I applied it just once a day and after 5 days we went from this:

(I apologise for the slightly blurry image but he is a three-year-old who rarely stays still after all!- it looked much worse in real life)

Bleeding, cracked, dry, sore and peeling skin

He has also asked to use it on his cheeks this week as they have become dry from the cold weather. If a child is asking for his cream to help I think we are onto a winner here!

You can use this cream on dry skin, eczema, bites, stings and psoriasis.

B-balm ingredients: Organic Olive oil, Honey, Cocoa butter, Beeswax, St.John’s Wort in Sunflower Oil, Calendula, Vitamin E, Lavender, Tea Tree & consequently Geraniol, Linalool, Limonene

Prices: 15ml – £4.50, 50ml – £9.50

Honey Lipbalm

The difference between Beeutiful’s lip balm and regular ones is that these are not only made from natural ingredients but they also allow the skin to breathe. Products such as Vaseline add a seal over the skin which may give the feeling of hydration but it isn’t providing any whatsoever. This will leave you with the need to apply much more than what is needed throughout the day. As it says on the tin it is also made from petroleum jelly which does in fact literally mean that it derives from petrol… and we are all putting this willingly onto our mouths! I was a vaseline user and I can now happily say that I have been converted. Not only did this lip balm feel lovely going on and gave the instant feeling of moisturization I only had to apply it once or twice a day– much less than Vaseline. Beeutiful also produce other flavours with different benefits.

Honey Lip balm ingredients: Sunflower oil, Cocoa butter, Beeswax, Mango butter, Vitamin E, Honey which increases the moisturising property of this lip balm and CI77491, CI77891 (rich gold mica) to add a subtle gold tint.

Prices: 5ml Tube- £3.50, 15ml Tin- £4.50

Body Candle

The body candle really surprised me because I initially thought it was just simply a candle… it is so much more! The wax has been specially formulated to melt as the candle burns and become a hydrating oil which can be applied directly to the body. This gave me the perfect excuse to have a relaxing bubble bath– something that is very rare these days. I lit my candle and placed it near to the bath so I could enjoy the aroma whilst it burned. Once I was ready to get out of the bath I blew out the candle and used the warm oil to moisturise my body. The oil is warm and not boiling hot as a normal candle would get and the smell is just gorgeous. My skin was left soft and supple and didn’t cause any irritation to my legs after shaving.

The candle I used was the Rose Spice flavour but Beeutiful also make Warm Orange & Ginger and Neroli & Vanilla.

Rose Spice Body Candle ingredients: Soy Wax, Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Jojoba Oil, Rose Geranium, Patchouli, Frankincense, Nutmeg essential oils

Price: 70ml approx. 8 hours burn time – £18

  1. Wow, what a clever candle! I must admit I am terrible at moisturising, and especially get sore lips but often forget to take my Vaseline out with me, so I’ve just given up buying it. Would be great to try something that I coulapply in the morning and forget about unitl later. But seriously, that candle!!

  2. That honey lip balm looks amazing. I’ve been using a Nivea lip salve but it doesn’t seem to do much unless I’m wearing it. This one looks amazing! #rv&ht

  3. Unfortunately, the smell of honey makes me feel sick, so this would be no good to me! A body candle sounds like an interesting idea though! 🙂

  4. A body candle is a really interesting idea. I think I’d be nervous of putting hot wax on my skin though… Pen x #RV&HT

    1. I asked her the same thing but it is oil and not wax so it doesn’t get to the same temperature. It is just like having warm oil put on your body for a massage xx

  5. The body candle looks and sounds glorious! I love stuff like this, I think I might have to buy some stuff when my student loan arrives!
