If you have limited space in your home, you might want to make the most out of every square inch and use clever solutions to maximize the available room. From redesigning individual rooms to making the most out of your living environment and building a balcony room, sunroom, or conservatory, there are several ways of enhancing your life on a budget. Below you will find nine ways to make the most out of your small indoor space on a budget…

1.Built-In Storage

If you want to make the most out of the space, you might want to avoid standalone bulky wardrobes and large chests. Instead, you might want to employ an interior designer to create a built-in storage solution in your bedroom and your living room that will fit your space and maximize the available wall space. From mirrored, sliding door wardrobes surrounding your bed to a shelving unit in the living room that surrounds your fireplace; there are several built-in storage solutions that can enhance your space and maximize storage at the same time.

2. Under Stairs Storage

If you are short of storage space, you might want to utilize your under stairs storage space. You can get built-in cabinets, shelves, or even a small office in there. Get creative and make the most out of your space, even if it is hidden. Under stairs areas can be used for storing your books, your clothes, your unused coats, or even your shoes. You might even create a hideaway seating area where you can change your shoes. Whether you are building a cupboard or making a small living space there, you can use your creativity to enhance your life.

3. Enclosed Balcony

If you have a limited budget and are looking for a 2 room flat for sale, it might be a good idea to search for a property that has a balcony. You can get a glazing company to build your hideaway space, and install sliding windows on your balcony, so you can turn your outdoors into an indoor space. Get some seats and put your favourite plants on your balcony, and you will be able to enjoy the views while listening to music and having your favourite drink in a bright and sunny space.

4. Conservatory

You could also build a perfect space by adding a conservatory, provided that you have some outdoor space attached to your home. There are several self-build constructions that allow you to erect a double pane conservatory in just a few weeks. You will be able to take advantage of the sheltered area, more sunshine, and get more storage. If you don’t have enough space in your house for a dining room, you might put your dining furniture in this newly created room, and declutter your main living area. You can also turn your conservatory into a small study or office.

5. Loft Space

Even if you have a small house, you can make use of the loft space for storage. You will need to apply for a building permit if you want to use your loft space as a room, but for storage, you will not need to spend money on plans. Simply make your loft step-proof, and make sure it is adequately insulated, so you don’t end up getting your paperwork or unused items damp or mouldy. You will also need to make sure that you keep vermins and other pests out of your loft.

6. Storage Beds

Some people struggle with storage as they have a tiny bedroom. To make the most out of your storage space, you can get an ottoman storage bed that allows you to store your winter clothes, your extra bedding, and even your camping or hobby equipment safely. If you don’t want to change your bed, however, you can get separate under-bed storage drawers or boxes, so you don’t take up more floor space than necessary. You can get beds with two or four drawers, or an ottoman bed that lifts up and allows you to store your items safely in a dry environment.

7. Futons

If your guest room is small, and you occasionally use it as an office, you might be struggling with space. The best solution would be to get a folding futon bed that can be used as a seat in the day, and when your guests arrive you can simply open it for them to sleep on. Instead of settling for a camping bed or an inflatable mattress that can be uncomfortable, you can get a futon that makes the most out of your space, and allows you to use the spare room for other purposes when you don’t have guests.

8. Window Seat with Storage

One of the best ways of creating a romantic hideaway in the bay windows, while maximizing your space is by getting a custom window seat installed. This can have a hidden storage under, so you benefit from more seating to have your coffee in the morning, and added storage facilities. You can hide your spare blankets and cushions under your window seat, and impress your guests with the view. Use innovative materials, such as reclaimed timber or upcycled leather seats from a car or coach, to make a statement.

9. Shelves Behind the Door

If you want your home to look tidier and more organized, you can make use of very narrow shelves behind your door. Install some in your kitchen to store your spices and sauces safely or add racks behind the spare bedroom door to keep coats and jackets organized. If you have a porch, you can even install some racks, shelves, and narrow shoe storage on one wall, maximizing vertical space.

Most of us never have enough storage and living space. You will need to get creative to find a way of adding storage without compromising living and floor areas. The above ideas will get your mind working, but at the end of the day, it is up to you how you make the most out of your home.
