As me and a friend sat having a hot drink yesterday whilst the kids played our conversation, as always, turned to the boys and what they are now into. Both have suddenly become more grown up and their attitudes and tastes are definitely reflecting this. We were cracking up at one another discussing what shows we now have to endure instead of the far too familiar sound of Peppa Pig and one thing we both noticed was that we had a secret love of singing and bopping about to the theme tunes of these shows they are now watching. My life has changed considerably since becoming a stay at home Mum. Some may question my choice but I wouldn’t change any part of the last three years. Yeah, so my priorities are a far cry from what they were when I was employed and I may not be the hard-faced business person I once was when I worked in retail but I have a new focus and, for me, it is the most important one I have ever had.
Of course, there are plenty times when Continue reading “You Know You’re a Stay at Home Mum when…”
Yes, you have guessed it from the title, we have hit the why stage and hit it hard. I am going slightly stir crazy this week and being asked what has felt like a million questions is precisely why. How do these stages just suddenly appear? I swear these kids are given a handbook before they pop out of the womb which gives them timings for when each stage is meant to hit– Age 1 get into every cupboard, destroy all you can, pull apart the sanitary towels and look cute doing it. 18 months-2years ease gently into the terrible two’s and then BAM! Parenthood opens up a whole new world of daily battles and here are a few of the thing I sometimes just want to be able to do… Continue reading “Sometimes I just want to be able to…”
I would like you to know that there has been many a day where I have sat and wished the time away until my son was three and we were able to take advantage of the free hours at pre-school. On those days when he just wouldn’t nap, when his teething pain had Continue reading “Why Free Childcare Comes At The Wrong Time”
Toddlerdom- The term used to describe the final transition from cute baby to full blown crazy toddler.
Not quite yet in the Oxford English Dictionary but I am pretty sure the term will catch on!
Do you remember when your little bundle of joy was just that? A teeny bundle plus a joy! If that seems a distant memory Continue reading “Has Yours Reached “Toddlerdom” Yet?!”
If you are a parent there is one place which to you is hell on earth but to your child, it is the place of amazing fun that they beg you (quite often) to take them to… yes, it is soft play!
I was naive at first and if you are a new parent you most probably will be too. It was a safe environment where he could fall and not hurt himself, it was brightly coloured and offered a selection of activities to stimulate his mind. As he grew and learnt to walk I discovered my attitude changed from ‘awwww, look at him trying to pull himself up’ to ‘oh my god that child has knocked him over, oh my goodness why is no one stopping their child Continue reading “How to Survive Soft Play”
