I am far from being a ‘Pinterest Mum’. I mean, I give things a fair good go but they usually turn out well, um, let’s say less than perfect… Just check out my, er, Halloween pumpkin cupcakes I attempted last year. They certainly didn’t look like this on Pinterest and these definitely didn’t end up at the school fair! Do you know when you are the most perfect parent? Before you have kids, that’s when!! When you imagine how life with a teeny baby will be. You picture yourself looking lovingly down at your baby at 3 am, being able to go for brunch with all of your Mummy friends and not hearing a peep out of your little one, thinking you will have all that time on your hands to bake homemade goodies for them… Continue reading “11 Things I Swore I’d Never Do As A Parent… But I Did!”
It was something I was dreading. The main reason being because I knew I was going to miss my boy so much in the week, that, and the daily school run (It was bad enough 3 days a week I couldn’t imagine adding another 2). If you are a parent you would have most probably noticed by now that some things happen in patterns, patterns that don’t tend to go well for you or ones that make your life that little more challenging and most of these patterns can be explained by one teeny force of nature… your children. Isn’t parenting fun?!
I like to call these patterns the sod’s laws of parenting and here are some examples of the most common ones: Continue reading “The Sod’s Laws of Parenting”
Ahhhh, the summer holidays, the time of year when you get to spend more time with your kids, where routines and school runs go out of the window, the time of year when you romanticise how special every moment is going to be… shame reality takes over eh! As me and a friend sat having a hot drink yesterday whilst the kids played our conversation, as always, turned to the boys and what they are now into. Both have suddenly become more grown up and their attitudes and tastes are definitely reflecting this. We were cracking up at one another discussing what shows we now have to endure instead of the far too familiar sound of Peppa Pig and one thing we both noticed was that we had a secret love of singing and bopping about to the theme tunes of these shows they are now watching.
