Are you a nature lover and would like to visit a place where you can hike, explore and appreciate the beauty of nature? There’s no shortage of places to witness just how extraordinary nature can be, from stunning coastlines to rolling hills… there is so much to choose from! Here are three places fairly close to England to visit to truly appreciate the beauty of nature with stunning landscapes, waterfalls, and much, much more. They will take your breath away!

1. Iceland

Iceland is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe for its natural wonders. It has a fascinating yet harsh landscape consisting of volcanoes, glaciers, geysers, waterfalls and beaches. Reykjavik, the country’s capital city, is also an exciting place to visit. One of the main attractions is the Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa, famous for its silica-rich waters. This place offers a unique and luxurious experience, also thanks to its stunning hotel: the rooms, like the Blue Lagoon Moss Suite, are surrounded by nature and the beautiful milky blue waters of the lagoon.

The best time to visit Iceland is in summer, May through August. However, if you are looking for the most dramatic landscapes, travelling during fall or winter would be ideal. Don’t forget to carry your camera to capture the beautiful sceneries Iceland has to offer.

If you like the look of Iceland you will probably also love the look of Tromso, Norway.

2. Umbria, Italy

Umbria is a small region in central Italy, commonly known as “the great heart of Italy” and for a good reason. Rolling hills and kilometers of countryside are the main features of this region. If you like exploring scenic medieval towns and hiking in the surrounding forests, this is place to go. In Umbria, you can enjoy nature in many forms: the countryside, mountains, lakes, rivers and even a famous waterfall. Small rural towns perched on green hilltops speckle the area and are home to many quaint B&Bs and trattorie where you can enjoy hearty Italian food. The region is mostly known for its cheeses, charcuterie, wild boar meat and truffle. If you appreciate wine, Umbria has a large production of it and most wineries offer tours, wine tastings and other fun activities.

The weather is classic Mediterranean: it can get pretty hot in the summer but winters are quite mild in comparison to more northern areas of Italy. So, it’s safe to say, you can visit Umbria all year round and it makes a great stop on an Italian road trip

3. The Isle of Skye, Scotland

The Isle of Skye is a large island in Scotland and has a unique landscape with dramatic peaks, ridges, pinnacles and the famous Quiraing mountain range. It has many beaches for enjoying different water sports. The best time to visit this place is from spring to autumn, which comprises sunny months. In winter, there may be increased rainfall which may make it hard to enjoy the outdoors. Many people also like to explore the island by bicycles available for rent, as well as with kayak or boat tours.
