Adding Luxury Touches To Your Bathroom

The bathroom isn’t exactly the most glamourous of spaces in your home – even if it’s somewhere you spend a not-inconsiderable amount of time glamming up within. Fundamentally, it’s a practical space with practical functionality, and likely at the bottom of the pecking-order when it comes to any decoration plans you may have.

That said, you deserve a relaxing and inviting space in which to bathe, get ready and otherwise perform your basic ablutions. Such a space does not come completely free, though – besides which, you deserve to invest a little when it comes to creating the bathing space you deserve. Here, then, are some core ways you can add touches of luxury to your bathroom.

Tiling

A bathroom is often defined by the tiles you find within it. Your backsplash and floor tiles are the noisiest part of your bathroom’s décor, and do a great deal for the feel of the room. If you’ve the budget to go big with your bathroom renovation, here’s a crucial starting-point.

Fundamentally, utilising larger wall and floor tiles can serve to make the bathroom feel bigger – a godsend in pokier homes or en-suites. Natural-effect tiles such as stone, marble or wood can also provide an opulent, natural finish without the attached cost of treated, humidity-friendly raw materials.

Fixtures

The fixtures and fittings are the next-most important part of the bathroom, when it comes to defining the space’s aesthetic – and the most important when it comes to defining your experience in your bathroom.

Small things like brass or gunmetal faucets and door handles can be enough to stake a claim on the space’s design; replacing or re-painting your cabinet fronts can also make a big shift without requiring a big budget. As far as practicality is concerned, you probably use your bathroom mirror more than anything day-to-day; why not look at chic illuminated mirrors for a next-level bathroom experience?

Scent

Not all luxury touches need to be a major or fundamental undertaking. Often, the little things do the most work for your feeling of a space – such as scents. You don’t need to be a licensed aromatherapist to pick the right smells for your bathroom, but you do need the patience necessary to select some complimentary candles and reed diffusers that can at once invigorate your bathroom and instigate relaxation.

Flowers And Greenery

Finally, another touch in the form of greenery. Foliage isn’t the most common of bathroom finds, thanks to the high humidity and changeable temperature making it unsuitable for most common-or-garden houseplants. There are some plants that love this kind of environment, though – and these plants can be a great way to bring some of the sumptuousness of the outdoors into your cost little bathroom space.
