Magna
Magna Science Adventure Centre in Sheffield is endless engaging. Explore four pavilions, each dedicated to a different element, before watching The Big Melt to see steelmaking brought to life in this former steelworks. With over 100 exhibits there’s plenty to keep you busy all day.
The Deep
In East Yorkshire, the highlight for families has to be The Deep. Hull is easily accessed by train and it is well-worth coming out to the edge of Yorkshire for this attraction. Housing over 3,000 sea creatures, The Deep is a major player in marine conversation both in the UK and on an international scale. Children will love spotting the many creatures in the aquarium including sharks, penguins, and sea turtles.
National Railway Museum

Also in York, a family-friendly attraction in itself, is JORVIK Viking Centre. As the name suggests, this museum is devoted to the Viking settlement that took over York over 1,000 years ago. As well as a display of fascinating objects that were uncovered during an excavation of the city, JORVIK offers visitors a ride around a model village where you can learn about the daily life of Norsemen in York. In nearby Danelaw, children have the chance to dress up as Vikings and take a more active part in this roleplay.
