Outdoor activities are a great way to get active and enjoy nature at the same time. The great thing about outdoor activities is that you don’t need to book an expensive day trip or go on an exhausting hike to enjoy them. You can do these activities almost anywhere, and they’ll cost you very little time and money. If you and your kids are feeling a little cooped up and bored, then it might be time to venture outside for some fresh air. Nature has a way of resetting our minds and getting us out of our comfort zones. When we spend more time in nature, we feel happier, healthier and more relaxed. Outdoor activities are also an excellent way to bond as a family while doing something fun together. Keep reading if you’re looking for some fun outdoor activities to do with your kids in 2023.

Scavenger Hunts

A scavenger hunt is a great way to get your kids out of the house and have fun outdoors. Whether it’s a family event or a birthday party, scavenger hunts are a great way to have a bit of friendly competition and get creative outdoors. You can either make up your own list or use one of the many online scavenger hunt list ideas that are available. There are also lots of different types of scavenger hunts you can do. For example, you could hide items around your garden for your kids to hunt down, or you could go out in nature and have your kids find common items like leaves, sticks or flowers. You could even create a history scavenger hunt where you walk around your local area to find famous landmarks.

Bouldering

Kids are always scrambling up rocks or climbing trees, which is why bouldering is a perfect way for kids to get active and have fun outdoors. Bouldering can be scaled down to suit almost any age and ability, making it a fab outdoor activity for kids. You can start off at a climbing centre to safely teach your little ones whilst also ensuring that they wear appropriate boys and girls trainers before joining age-appropriate groups that go out and boulder in nature.

Stargazing

Enjoying a night under the stars is something that many people forget to do but it’s an ideal activity to do with your family. You can either go to a nearby park or look for a spot outside that has a clear view of the sky with little light pollution. You don’t need any fancy equipment or a telescope to enjoy the beauty of the stars. Simply lie down on a blanket to get a great view of the night sky. Another fun thing to do while stargazing is to identify constellations and turn it into a fun learning activity.

Watersports

Watersports are an outdoor activity to do with your kids all year round. There are so many different things you can try, such as canoeing, paddleboarding and kayaking. You can even try surfing if you’re feeling adventurous. Camping

Camping is an activity that most families can enjoy. No matter what age your kids are, they can participate in camping. It’s a good way of getting your family active, exploring nature and spending quality time together. You can make camping as easy or as hard as you want, depending on your skill level. Camping can be as easy as pitching a tent in your garden, or you can go all out and rent a spot to camp in one of the many beauty spots in the UK, like the Lake District.

Horse Riding

Horse riding is a great outdoor activity to do with your kids. You can try riding at a riding school or go on a trail ride with an equestrian group. It’s an excellent way to get kids interested in a sport and in nature. If your kids have never been horseback riding before, try taking them to a riding school first so they can get more comfortable in the saddle before you go on a hack in nature.
