How to Enjoy Las Vegas

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. That’s the old saying and millions of adult visitors make a trip to Sin City every year to enjoy hedonistic vacations. It truly is like no place on Earth and a place that should be experienced by everyone at least once in their life. But what about the kids?

Contrary to popular belief, Las Vegas is a perfectly valid family vacation destination too. There are obviously certain places that are off-limits to children but there are more than enough attractions and things to do for all ages. If you really want a casino experience, you can always visit one of the sites featured at vegasbetting.com once the little ones have gone to bed.

We’re going to take a look at some of the family-friendly features of this unique city and show that Las Vegas doesn’t have to be all about casinos, nightclubs, and getting married to relative strangers in tacky wedding chapels.

Family Friendly Hotels

Many of the hotels in Las Vegas are obviously connected to the major casino brands and cater to guests who frequent the slots and the tables downstairs. But these are also run by some of the biggest names in the hospitality business, so you can be sure that they will look after every single guest – not just the high rollers.

You will also be able to find hotels, even on The Strip, that are much more suited to families. But just because you might not be hitting the tables throughout your stay, don’t think that you cannot stay at one of the big hotels. You may also be able to get a good deal compared to a similar hotel in a different city.

Catch a Show

Nightclubs will be off the schedule if you are taking your children to Las Vegas. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t go out and have a good time. This is a place that has been known for years as the entertainment capital of the world – so you know there will be a show to suit all tastes.

Cirque de Soleil is a firm family favorite and all the big casino resort hotels will have some kind of attraction that will excite all ages. Once you have seen the most amazing magic shows and listened to note-perfect tribute acts, you should also take a trip up to the observation deck at the Stratosphere.

Museums of All Types

Vegas may be all about fun and games but there are enough museums and galleries to add a little culture to your vacation as well. Madam Tussauds is a must for selfie opportunities with the “stars”, while the Mob Museum downtown will enlighten visitors about the city’s seedier past.

The Discovery Children’s Museum is a major draw, with over 100 interactive exhibits allowing kids of all ages to find out about the world around them. You could give DJing a go, learn a foreign language with the Berenstain Bears, or even discover what being in the middle of a hurricane is like.

Adventuredome

With a name like that, you just know that the kids will be happy with this particular day out. Spread over five acres, Adventuredome is the nation’s largest indoor theme park and it all takes place under a huge glass dome. Some of the rides here have to be experienced to be believed.

But it’s not all rollercoasters and cotton candy. The Xtreme Zone is the place for activities including indoor rock climbing, an 18-hole golf course, and even bungee jumping. There’s so much to do here that you will probably forget about the allure of the casinos completely.

Wildlife in the City

Las Vegas is forever expanding and thinking up new ways to entertain visitors. But some of the biggest attractions are some of the natural flora and fauna that were probably there before the first casinos were even built. The Las Vegas Zoo is just 15 minutes from The Strip but there are other natural delights close by.

If you like to take the family into the great outdoors then the Red Rock Conservation Park, just 30 minutes to the west of the city, boasts a stunning landscape with plenty of hiking trails suitable for all ages. If you don’t fancy the idea of too much walking, you can always hire some bikes and hit the cycle tracks instead.

The Grand Canyon is easy to get to from Las Vegas

Day Trip to the Grand Canyon

If you have driven into Las Vegas for your vacation then you may have already crossed the awe-inspiring Hoover Dam. Built during the Great Depression, the dam irrigates the desert and provides electricity for the area. It also straddles the Nevada-Arizona state line and is on the way to the Grand Canyon.

Keep on heading due east, through the stunning colors of the Arizona desert and you will come to the Grand Canyon National Park. Words do not do the place justice, so make sure that you park up and take in the sheer scale of one of the genuine natural wonders of the world.

Free Stuff!

If you do have kids you will not need to be told just how expensive a vacation can be. So the idea of Las Vegas as a base might not immediately seem like a good idea. But, hopefully, we have given you some good suggestions in this family-friendly guide to help plan the perfect holiday.

There are also lots to see and do in Las Vegas that won’t cost you anything at all. There are always some strange sights to behold – that the kids, especially, will love – but even just the spectacle of the Bellagio fountain show is worth a visit. You might just find that Vegas becomes the entire family’s favourite vacation destination.
