Cat food is one of the biggest struggles we have had as cat owners over the years. When our tabby, KitKat, was younger, we felt like we were constantly buying food, yet he never seemed satisfied. After some research, we discovered that a lot of the well-known cat foods are high in water content and fillers rather than meat, leaving many cats still hungry and needing more. Of course, there are now many other brands to choose from and over the course of Kit’s lifetime and his changing needs, I feel like we have tried the majority of them! At 16, KitKat is now a lot slower than he once was, and has had several health issues/worries of late, with the most life-changing one being hyperthyroidism. He has to take medication twice a day, go for regular vet checkups and we switched him from senior food to adult food in order to help to keep his weight up. Unfortunately, just when we thought we had solved his food issues, he began struggling to eat, which led to a vet visit and a dental that ended up leaving him with very few teeth. We found ourselves back to square one in our mission to find a cat food that would work for him and now with the additional need of it being soft and easy to eat. Oh, and did I mention he’s also a fussy cat? Yeah, quite a combination there – old, skinny, medicated, no teeth and fussy. We had been trying every food that was being recommended to us, and each time we thought we had it cracked, he’d change his mind and turn his nose up. Just as we were wondering where to go next with his diet, Untamed emailed me, and after a look at their website, food quality and ethics, I was very happy and eager to try out and review their range of cat food.
