Why do many people relate the choice of infant food to ethical features? These are things that influence food choices. The basic principles are the following:

  • safety
  • diversity
  • nutrition value
  • eco-friendliness
  • cultural aspects

Breastfeeding is indisputably the best food for a baby, but not all mothers can physically manage it. So, bottle feeding is their solution. Why is it significant to keep to sustainable and ethical principles? Why do many parents prefer organic baby food pouches to mashed fruit? What makes organic baby formula secure for infants? Let’s find it out.

Why Eating Is an Ethical Fact

Have you ever heard the proverb, “We are what we eat?” This truth is a guide for brands that manufacture organic baby food. The explanation of this saying is simple. If you eat low-quality food, you will acquire poor health. In other words,

  • those who consume many fats become obese;
  • those who overeat unhealthy carbs become sugar-dependant;
  • those who don’t eat vitamins and minerals won’t get enough strength to recover from diseases and grow healthy.

Nevertheless, not every person is mature enough to develop the right food preferences, and some choices are predetermined by cultural and historical aspects. Most Americans got used to fast food, so they see no problem buying baby formula with sugar, artificial ingredients, GMOs, and taste enhancers.

Why Following the Ethical Act Is Essential

The World Health Organization, the Association of Pediatricians, and UNICEF

care for the ingredients baby food contains. They make their choices depending on the ethical code.

  1. Safety

Each component must be natural, meaning they mustn’t be human-made. For example, milk must be taken from a healthy cow not treated with antibiotics and anti-parasite drugs. Unlike organic pouches, homemade purees cannot always be safe because parents don’t test market products they use.

  1. Diversity

Parents must have choices when selecting baby formula and supplementary foods for their children because it guarantees secure nutrition for all kids. For instance, babies who are intolerant to cow baby formula can eat goat or vegan formula to avoid allergies and indigestion.

  1. Nutrition value

Every person should consume the required amount of fats, carbs, proteins, minerals, and vitamins to stay healthy. Malnutrition leads to being underweight and physical and psychological problems. Children who get too many calories and nutrients can suffer from obesity, diabetes, and other health complications. If parents buy vegan formula for intolerant children, they should either search for an all-inclusive formula or add the deficient macronutrients and micronutrients to each serving.

  1. Eco-friendliness

Nonorganic food components negatively affect our digestive, cardiovascular, and nervous systems, which results in chronic diseases. Today, the world tries to save our planet using recyclable and fast-decomposing materials. Consequently, baby food must be in eco-friendly packages that don’t produce chemicals and radiation to prolong the product’s lifespan.

  1. Cultural aspects

Countries differ in their eating habits. Some can eat raw fish and insects, while some cannot tolerate milk products. Consequently, baby food must be safe and acceptable for a concrete child. For example, Chinese kids often get indigestion when consuming cow milk, so parents should choose either vegan or goat milk formula.
