Revamping your bedroom can make a huge difference to your overall wellbeing and quality of life. After all, we spend eight hours in our bedrooms sleeping every night, so it makes sense that you should have a calming sanctuary that you can relax in. If your bedroom is looking worse for wear, the decor is looking shabby and it’s full of clutter, this can actually affect your quality of sleep and in turn, have an effect on your quality of life in the daytime. For a bedroom that you can’t wait to go home to at night and sleep in, make these four things a priority.

Comfort

It goes without saying that your bedroom should be the most comfortable room in the house. Comfort can be defined in several different ways, but the most important thing should be your bed. If you wake up in the morning with aches and pains or often find yourself tossing and turning at night because you’re struggling to get comfortable, you should definitely prioritize replacing your mattress or even your entire bed. Investing in an organic cotton duvet set as well as Ecoy’s mattress protector will allow you to sink into a wonderful night’s sleep. Some other ideas to make your bedroom more comfortable include adding a plush carpet, blackout curtains, and luxury soft furnishings like throws and pillows.

Air Quality

Bad air quality in your bedroom can leave you waking up with a dry, sore throat and a stuffy nose. The better the quality of air in your sleep environment, the higher quality of your sleep is going to be. When you can breathe easier at night, you’ll enjoy a more restful sleep and wake up feeling more refreshed in the morning. Bedroom air quality is an important consideration and there are several things that you can do to improve it, including adding house plants to your room or using a dehumidifier to clear the air. Not only will you sleep better, but it will also prevent your skin from getting dry during the night and allow you to wake up looking and feeling great.

Colors

The decor in your bedroom can have a bigger impact on your quality of sleep and your ability to relax than you might realize. It’s a good idea to decorate your room in calming colors that help to soothe your mind and get you in the mood for sleep. Consider colors that you like, of course, but think about how relaxing they actually are. You might love pillar box red, but is it really the best choice for a room that you want to wind down and relax in? Pastel colors like a soft blush pink tend to be great choices for bedrooms, or you could opt for a deeper, richer hue like emerald green or navy blue as a feature wall and keep the rest light.

Storage

Nobody likes to have a cluttered bedroom and too many things in your room can leave your mind feeling just as cluttered as the space. When revamping your bedroom, it’s a wise idea to prioritize the storage options and make sure that you have plenty of room to store your things neatly and out of the way. There are tons of smart storage options that you can take advantage of such as an ottoman bed that allows you to lift up your bed frame and utilize the floor space underneath to store your shoes or clothes that you don’t need until the next season.

A bedroom revamp can be just what you need if you have noticed that your quality of sleep is suffering. Make these four factors a top priority when designing your new bedroom to create a relaxing sanctuary for yourself.
