Training for The Three Peaks – Month Two

training for the three peaks month two

So, here we are, two months down with two months to go until the BIG day – climbing the three peaks for Men’s Mental Health. If you missed my previous post, you can read how training went for me here and if you want to know why we are taking on this huge task I have written all about this here. It really is big and it’s very daunting but I love giving new things a go and this will be a great item to tick off my bucket list. Right, let’s see how this month’s training has gone…

Month Two Training

Month one was great, I got off to a really good start with lots of big hill walks, and the increased walking had a really positive impact on the way my body felt. Month two has been filled with good, consistent dog walks, but I haven’t managed to get back to Butser or Beacon Hill for those more intense, inclined treks. However, I don’t think this is much of an issue because I need to work on different areas in order to be able to complete this task, which includes being able to keep a steady pace and being able to cover long distances. I have found a local walk which has a varied terrain ideal for this type of training, especially when I’m busy during the week and can’t go far (having a dog really helps as it forces me out in the afternoon) and then at the weekends we have managed to get out to woods, country parks and even down to the New Forest to get our steps up.

Even though all this walking has wiped me out some days, I still love getting out more. The scenery is improving with each visit as spring does its thing, which makes it all so much more enjoyable.

Next Focus

I think in the coming months I will need to focus on strength training – better dust off that kettlebell I bought ages ago, then! And aim to do some hill endurance training too.

There is still plenty of time to sponsor us on this epic journey – we are aiming to raise £2000, so every small donation will help. Our Just Giving Page is here with all the details.

Thanks so much
