A Complete Guide to The SURI Sustainable Toothbrush Range

*Collaborative Post
You all know I’m always on the lookout for everyday swaps that both work and are kinder on the planet. Well, I’ve been trying out the SURI range for the last few years, and it has quickly become one of my favourite sustainable brands, and, as their range has grown, I wanted to create a guide to show what is available to help you make some simple eco-friendly changes to your daily oral routine.
About SURI
SURI (Sustainable Rituals) makes electric toothbrushes with a difference. Their aim is to balance performance, design and sustainability, without compromise.
Why I love their approach:
- Plant-based brush heads – made from renewable sources, including corn and castor oil.
- A free recycling scheme – so you can send back all of your used brush heads.
- Aluminium brush bodies – designed to last and are smaller and sleeker than many standard electric brushes. No virgin plastic here!
- Two toothbrush models – SURI have listened to customer feedback and have created a new version of their original brush. I will always love a brand that listens and learns.
SURI 2.0 – The New Flagship
The 2.0 SURI is the most advanced model in the range, taking what worked in the 1.0 and building on that. It’s beautifully designed, compact and is available in five colours. It delivers a refined sonic clean and has a real premium feel. On top of the performance improvements, they have also made a brush head protector, improved the charger (no more prongs) and made the charging/UV case much sleeker. It is the pricier option (around £105), but I always think you get what you pay for.
SURI 1.0 – The Original
The brush that started it all and the one I have been using since 2022 – you can read my full blog review on this here. The 1.0 SURI still offers a powerful sonic clean and the same sleek aluminium build but at a lower price point than its newer 2.0 version. If you’re moving to an electric brush for the first time, this is a very solid, and sustainable choice.
Plant-Based, Recyclable Brush Heads
This is where SURI really stands out. Brush heads are usually the biggest waste issue with electric toothbrushes, but SURI’s are made from renewable, plant-based materials and can be sent back through their free recycling scheme.
Accessories
SURI offers a carefully designed set of accessories to make brushing more convenient and travel-friendly without the usual plastic-heavy extras. Here’s what’s available:
UV Charge Case
This doubles as a charger and a hygienic storage case, using UV-C light to help keep brush heads cleaner between uses. Perfect for travel or if you like your bathroom gear to stay spotless.
Tip: unplug the charger once the brush is fully charged to save energy.
Magnetic Mirror Mount
A simple but very handy accessory that allows you attach the brush to a bathroom mirror. It saves shelf space and keeps the handle dry, which in turn will help it last longer.
Travel Washbag
Made from durable, eco-conscious materials, the washbag keeps everything together when you’re on the move. It also looks really good. They also have a brand new 2.0 washbag to go with their new brush which you can view here.
Toothpaste Key
This very clever gadget has been designed to help squeeze every last drop of toothpaste out of a tube. Simply attach the toothpaste key to the end of your tube and roll as required. Their no waste ethos has really been thought about here.
How SURI Measures Up on Sustainability
Here’s where SURI really shines:
- Renewable materials – corn and castor oil instead of fossil-fuel plastics.
- Free recycling scheme – making it easy to keep used heads out of landfill.
- Durability – aluminium handles built to last.
- Compact design – fewer materials and less packaging overall.
- Free Repairs/Replacements – SURI do not want anything to go to waste so if you do have any issues with your brush, you can contact their customer services who will advise on repairing or replacing the product (you send the old one back for recycling).
Tips for Getting the Most Out of a Sustainable Toothbrush
- Replace brush heads every three months (or when bristles show wear) but not sooner.
- Use the free return/recycling scheme – don’t toss heads into general waste.
- Unplug the charger when the battery is full if possible.
- Rinse and dry the handle regularly to prolong its life.
- When the brush eventually wears out, send it back to SURI for recycling.
My Thoughts: Is SURI Right for You?
If you’re trying to make sustainable swaps without giving up quality or style, SURI is one of the best options I’ve found. If you are happy to invest a bit more upfront for better materials and thoughtful design, the 2.0 is brilliant. But the 1.0 still delivers a great clean and costs a little less. As for the accessories, I love the range on offer and that the brand has really thought of every useful product.
SURI still gets the thumbs up from me.
