In recent years, artificial (or plastic!) grass has gained popularity by being sold as a “low-maintenance landscaping solution”, however, beneath its green facade lies a host of environmental and wildlife concerns. As awareness has slowly grown about the detrimental effects plastic grass can have, more people are now thinking twice about installing it which in my eyes is great because our plastic problem is big enough, we don’t need to be carpeting our outdoor spaces in the stuff too, so come with me as I delve into the awful truths of artificial grass and share the eco-friendly alternatives that will help to promote biodiversity and environmental health.

My eco topics category is my latest addition to my blog. I decided to make changes to my lifestyle in 2018 because I knew we needed to take steps to become more eco-friendly. It began with the change to reusable nappies and wipes and from there I made a promise to continue to try and find other ways to improve our wasteful ways and at the same time offer up tips, advice and hopefully inspire others.
Making these changes has had such a positive impact on us as a family. We are enjoying finding new ways of doing things, we love talking about it with others and we are saving money too! Such a win! Eco topics are now a huge passion of mine and I hope you will enjoy them as much as we are.

Sourcing sustainable clothing has become a big focus for me in the last few years but from research and experience, it isn’t always the easiest thing to achieve or get right. There are many brands out there “claiming” to be more eco-friendly or ethical but when it comes to the crunch, most seem to be simply greenwashing their consumers and so, I have found that the best way to shop sustainably is secondhand. Now, for most clothing items this is fine, however, I do draw the line at preloved underwear and nightwear, which I am sure many of you will agree with, so what can we do in this situation? Thankfully, there are more and more sustainable and ethical brands popping up and offering a wide range of beautifully crafted, timeless, fun and size-inclusive pieces in the lingerie space and I have recently been introduced to one such brand – IDENTITY LINGERIE. I was sent some of their lovely items to try out and review so let’s see what I thought…

Review: A Green Perspective on a Simba Refurbished Mattress

As an eco-conscious person, when it comes to sourcing homeware items I will often turn to secondhand as my first port of call. There is always somebody out there getting rid of something they no longer need or use and their castoffs can quickly become another person’s gems. But what about those household items that need to meet hygiene standards, items such as mattresses? Well, this is one of those occasions where I would usually advise you to buy brand new. Of course, purchasing new doesn’t need to mean unsustainable, there are plenty of companies out there doing all they can to improve and excel in their sustainability measures one of which is Simba. However, you can now also buy refurbished products from Simba meaning you get that new feel with a used/returned product that is better for the environment and your wallet too. This service really caught my attention and I am going to give you my green perspective on it all in this review…
