Now Lockdown is Coming to an End, It’s Time Children are Allowed to Live

*Collaborative Post

Because of the pandemic that has taken a stranglehold on the world as we know it for more than a year now, society has been plunged in and out of lockdown in an attempt to keep the virus at bay. Now, though, it looks as though we may finally be nearing the end of these crazy times as the vaccine rollout has exceeded expectations.

The most vulnerable have been vaccinated in the United Kingdom and the country is now in the process of slowly reopening. Children, in particular young children, have been hit hard as they have had to contend with isolation away from their friends and family. For many infants, lockdown is the only thing they will have known.

‘The Year We Muddled Through’ Book Review

*Ad

This last year has been a whirlwind of changes, new routines, new ways of getting by, dealing with a wide range of emotions and muddling through a very strange time. I am sure you’ve had many highs and many lows, you’ve probably made a lot of memories and learnt how to enjoy a slower pace of life. Yes, there were times when we all hit that brick wall and wanted our own space again but there were other times where we cuddled our children so tightly, feeling incredibly blessed for all we have. I hope we can all look back at that year with more fond memories than worrying ones especially when we reflect on those long walks, the activities we did for school, the PE with Joe, arts and crafts and so on. The Year We Muddled Through has taken all of these experiences, all of what we felt and did and has captured the year where the world turned upside down and this is our review…

Playdough is a great activity for a wide range of ages. It sparks the imagination, it allows children to be creative, it is a sensory activity, it helps to develop fine motor skills and it is good fun! Most of us know that you can buy playdough in the shops but this can end up being pricey, the smell isn’t always desirable, some children can have a reaction to the ingredients plus it is sold in a lot of plastic packaging. Talking To Childcare Settings About Cloth Nappies… And Getting Them On Board!

When it comes to the time to choose a childcare setting we all have certain areas that we want to be ticked off: experienced staff, outdoor time, educational play, socialisation, role play, plenty of stimulation and so on, but if you are a cloth parent, approaching childcare settings about using them can feel very daunting. Disposable nappies have been mainstream for a long time now and it may seem the easiest option to go along with this just to “fit in” but if we want to continue to spread the word about cloth, if we want our child/children to wear them full time, if we want to make a change and bring cloth to the forefront then talking about them and asking others to use them too is the way to help this to happen. In this article, I am going to share how I went about talking to a childcare setting about cloth nappies and how I got them on board (spoiler, it wasn’t hard!)
