Creative Ways to Optimize Your Space At Home

They say home is where the heart is, so you must ensure your decor and setup fit what you need them to. Still, if you don’t have a lot of space to work with, including everything you want might be difficult. Whether you want your house to appear larger or need to maximize every bit of space you have, these tips can get you ready to redecorate more optimally and optimize your space at home.

1. Change Your Doors

Changing out your doors might not be an option for every space, but it’s an excellent way to make room in your home for more decorations or storage options. Closets can benefit from pocket doors, which fold into the wall when not in use and ultimately save more space.

If you have a small bathroom, a pocket door can help you utilize some space that a traditional door would otherwise cover. After implementing a pocket door, you might have room to install a linen cabinet or another form of storage.

2. Combine Your Spaces

Some rooms can be multi-functional, especially if people don’t use them every day. When you have one larger room, you can divide it into spaces people can use at different times.

For example, if you’re working remotely out of your bedroom, you can move your setup elsewhere. Working in your bedroom means you might feel energized when it’s time to sleep rather than tired. By keeping things like work out of your bedroom, you can get better sleep and do your job more effectively without a cloudy mind.

In this case, you may choose to put your work setup in a guest bedroom, which likely isn’t in use all the time. Instead of a bed that could take up most of the room, you could opt for a futon or pull-out couch that can transform into a bed when you have guests. When you don’t have guests, it’s an appealing piece of furniture.

3. Find Functional Storage

The right furniture for a small home can double as storage. Consider buying something like an ottoman that opens up. That way, you’ll have seating space in your living room, but you’ll also have a place to store blankets and cozy items for anyone who may need or want them.

Another easy way to include storage is to get a bookcase from Meble Furniture, it allows you to organize and store books, magazines, display items, and baskets of clutter you can’t put anywhere else. It might take some creativity on your part, but you can make chic storage work in any space.

4. Get a Folding Table

How often have you wished you could have a designated space to fold clothes? If you constantly find your items all over the couches or your bed as you’re trying to fold them, you need a folding table.

Adding a countertop to your laundry room can help you make space for folding clothing, so you don’t have to hurt your back by bending over a couch or bed to fold clothes effectively. You can even add a removable countertop over your washer and dryer if they’re both front-load devices. Plus, it keeps all the laundry in one place so you can deliver it more effectively to each room.

5. Purchase Furniture With Legs

Furniture takes up about 50% of the floor in a living area. Once you know just how much of your space it occupies, you may want to choose future furniture that can help you maximize your space. Seats with exposed legs could help your room appear larger and you can also store things under them if you need extra storage space.

6. Install Open Shelving

Open shelving can look beautiful, especially if you curate what you want to go on the shelves. It can add a pleasant, aesthetic look to any area — especially your kitchen — when you decorate it with practical items.

For instance, you might want to display your mugs and cookbooks on these shelves to save space on your countertops. This way, you’ll have more room to cook and you’ll have a pleasant display to look at that’s full of practical items.

7. Utilize Mirrors Strategically

One decoration people often underestimate is a mirror. While it won’t do anything to help you save on storage, it can help a room appear much bigger, particularly if the mirror is larger.

Angle your mirror to catch the light and add visual space to your room. You’ll have an outstanding accent piece that will make your living space bigger visually, which might break up some of the crowding if you have a lot of furniture or decorations.

Let Your Space Make You Happy

You should have the chance to live in a home that makes you happy. If you don’t like how your house looks right now, you can take little steps to change that. Small homes can be just as valuable as large ones — you just need to get creative with solutions. With some practice, you’ll get the hang of it and wonder how you lived so many years without all the storage solutions optimizing your home.
