*Collaborative Post
When you have a dog, it’s nice to try and make sure that their coat super shiny. After all, a shiny coat is the sign of a healthy dog and it is very easy for you to try and get that glossy coat that you see in advertisements. All you have to do is make a few simple changes while also monitoring the type of food that your dog is eating.
How To Make Your Dog’s Coat Super Shiny
Your Dog’s Food
Dogs who eat low-quality or even commercial dog food will not be getting a balanced diet. If you have a diet that is low in fat then this may also cause your dog to have an omega-6 deficiency. This, in turn, can mean that your dog has fur that is dry and even coarse. If you are not sure if your dog is getting all of the nutrients that they need then make sure that you check the back of the packet and try to find out how much Omega 6 is included. It also helps to look out for grains, as these can be known for causing skin issues. A well-balanced diet with the appropriate nutrients is key to a fantastic coat, a food like Superfood Complete can make a world of difference. And don’t forget to always provide fresh water to help to keep your dog hydrated.
Fresh Food
The fatty acids that are in dog food are often balanced but when you expose them to oxygen, they can fade out and they can also become far less effective. If you have a bag of dog food that is open then try and make sure that you keep it sealed. You also need to make sure that you do everything you can to give your dog the support that they need with their food as well, by making sure that they are being fed at the right times.
Supplement with Omega 3
Flaxseed oil and even fish oil is great for your dog and it can also really help to give them healthy skin and a healthy coat as well. It’s super important that you don’t give them too much, however, because if you do then you can cause them to experience a huge range of stomach issues. You can easily talk with your vet about this, and they can help you to get into a good routine when it comes to your pet and their eating habits.
Bathing
The breed of dog that you have will ultimately decide how often they need to be bathed. Some dogs require more bathing when compared to others, so do keep that in mind. If you are shampooing your dog’s coat, you only need to do this every couple of months. When you do shampoo your dog’s coat, make sure that you rinse it off well afterwards and you also need to make sure that you brush them after as well. It’s important to know that if you shampoo your dog’s coat too much then this will strip it of all the essential oils that are present and this can cause you to experience a huge range of issues at a later date.
Brushing
If you want to make your dog’s coat super shiny and healthy then brushing them is very important. No dog really likes being brushed, but it really is an important part of your grooming routine. You have to make sure that your dog doesn’t have any knots and you also have to make sure that they have any dead fur removed as well. If your dog refuses to be brushed then it’s a good idea to try and train them that it isn’t a bad thing and that they will be rewarded after this. A dog treat is a great way for you to do this, and you’d be surprised at how easy it is for you to really help them to stay active.
Talk to your Vet
If nothing you do seems to give your dog that nice and lovely coat then it may be worth talking to your vet. Your vet will be able to work with you to try and make sure that your dog gets the help that they need and it’s also a great way for you to try and make sure that they are healthy and that there are no other health conditions that may be stopping them from recovering properly as well so it is well-worth keeping that in mind.
So there are plenty of ways that you can try and keep your dog healthy, and by taking the above tips into account, you can be sure to give them that nice, glossy coat you’ve always wanted.
