The beachside city of Santa Monica is charming for a number of reasons and you know you don’t want to miss out on any of them. Planning a trip to this beautiful place is a great opportunity to experience so much – and this is how to do it.

Here’s a list of the most important things to check off your Santa Monica list – though you might find you’ll have to come back for round two.

Your Accommodation

Let’s get one of the most important parts out of the way first. Where you choose to stay on any trip can set the tone of your holiday. If you’re looking for a relaxing, luxury vacation, choosing the right accommodation is crucial.

Be sure to research the most beautiful Santa Monica hotels – there are plenty to choose from – and make sure your choice aligns with your budget and what you want out of your Los Angeles itinerary.

Santa Monica Pier

Visiting the world-famous Pier at Santa Monica State Beach is an attraction not to be missed. The Pier sports an amusement park, an arcade, restaurants and live music making it a fun and gorgeous outing for friends, families, lovers or even a solo outing.

While it will probably be busy due to a lot of tourist traffic, this is one commercial attraction you’ll definitely want to include in your itinerary.

The Beach

Visiting a coastal city, you’ll naturally want to be spending some time at the beaches in and around Santa Monica. The Santa Monica State Beach runs across the length of the whole city and is extremely popular.

You’ll be able to choose between bustling, busy and exciting areas with restaurants, volleyball and water sports, and more quiet, relaxed paths where you can stroll with your partner and just experience the beauty of the ocean.

Santa Monica Stairs

An activity for the more active vacation-goers is a visit to the Santa Monica Stairs. This activity gives you the choice between 199 concrete steps or 170 wooden steps – it might not sound like much, but fitness enthusiasts love to challenge themselves on these stairs.

Grab an early morning stair workout before heading off to a big and greasy breakfast at one of Santa Monica’s local restaurants afterwards – you earned it.

Palisades Park

For the ultimate L.A. coastline views, take a visit to Palisades Park along the northern coast – your Instagram photography will thank you. The park offers beautiful walking pathways, views from cliffs, diverse and gorgeous natural life and even a collection of historical monuments and art installations that you can admire.

Santa Monica Farmer’s Market

A farmer’s market might not seem like a great holiday activity, but as a bonus, a visit to this market won’t leave you disappointed. Sporting some of the most beautiful and fresh farm-grown fruit and veg, this market has a lot to offer and can be a great activity for a more quiet and relaxed day on your trip.

Don’t forget to come hungry, since you’ll be sampling amazing food wherever you walk.
