Unless you’ve been living under a rock just recently, you will be very aware that Toy Story 4 has hit the cinema’s and subsequently broken box office records. It’s been 25 years since the release of the very first film and as somebody who remembers the lead up to that film, I was just as excited as my child was when we heard that another was coming out. The loveable characters took all of our hearts and after the sad ending of Toy Story 3, who would have thought they would have been back with more to come? I certainly didn’t.

With the movie being huge as is the merchandise this year and we were very kindly sent 2 Toy Story 4 puzzles to review… Oh, and to giveaway!!

Yes, Jumbo Games have given us their Toy Story 4 four shaped puzzles and puzzle and colour and this is what we thought of them.

Toy Story 4 Four Shaped Puzzles

The four shaped puzzles priced at £7.99 come in a variety of designs involving the well-loved characters of the film and some of the new ones making their appearance in this 4th chapter. The age range states from 3+ and with the puzzles coming with 14, 16, 18 and 20 pieces you will have a set that will grow with your child. Jake is now 5 and he quite easily put together most of the puzzles, only needing a little help due to the shapes of the outside.

It was really nice to be able to sit down and do this activity together and it was lovely to see how well he can work puzzles out now he is older.

I love that these aren’t too big, that they can be stored easily away in their box and that they will last both boys for years to come.

Toy Story 4 Colour and Puzzle

The puzzle and colour is priced at £8.99 and is really interesting because on one side it is a readymade jigsaw puzzle of the Toy Story crew but on the other side is a colouring in puzzle featuring Woody, Buzz and Forky. Again, this puzzle is for ages 3+, it has 18 pieces and is much larger than the other set. It also includes 5 crayons (although we somehow ended up with 2 packets in our box!) to help you colour it in.

puzzle and colour

We began by making the puzzle so we could colour it in once it was a complete piece rather than fiddling around with the smaller pieces.

There is quite a lot of detail and it is a pretty large puzzle so you will need to set aside a good amount of time to get this done… and you will most probably end up doing most yourself! We found that the crayons weren’t very effective at colouring in and Jake broke most of them from pushing down too hard to try and get the colour to take on the surface so we swapped to felt tips that we already had at home and those worked so much better.

Once we had finished (also known as he gave up and will do it another day!) I found it really easy to lift the puzzle up as one piece and turn it over to see the other side.

This puzzle is really sturdy and would actually make a fun feature in your child’s room if you didn’t want to take it apart again. What I really like about it is that it’s a project that you can keep coming back to and adding more colour to if you wanted to.

Overall we give these puzzles a huge thumbs up and Jake was over the moon with them which is always a bonus. It can be so hard to find an activity that interests him that doesn’t involve the TV or iPad at the moment so anything that will draw him away and get him using his mind and creativity is a plus.

And like I said, I have a set of both puzzles to giveaway to one lucky reader! All you have to do is enter via the Gleam box below.
