Review | Wolf & Zephyr Ethical And Sustainable Jewellery

The water element necklace from wolf & gypsy

As a busy parent, jewellery hasn’t featured much in my everyday look for quite a while but now that the youngest is a little bit older I decided that I needed to start taking a little more pride in my appearance and adding some lovely pieces to my daytime wear was at the top of my list. However, I didn’t just want cheap highstreet items, I wanted quality, unique and also a company that is ethical. Wolf & Zephyr can provide this as well as sustainability…

About Wolf & Zephyr

Founder Tori Shay says:

“I could never find jewellery that I wanted to wear myself which was also high quality and long lasting. So I decided to create my own ‘forever’ jewellery and that’s where my brand, Wolf & Zephyr, was born; ethical and sustainable jewellery made with love.”

Tori designs her pieces here in the UK and these are then handcrafted and brought to life in an ethical workshop in India.

Their stunning jewellery is all made from sterling silver, gold vermeil, 14ct gold and contain ethically sourced, conflict-free gemstones (moonstone, topaz, turquoise, emerald and diamonds). Each are carefully handpicked to ensure that they perfectly fit each piece that is made.

The brand ensures that they take every appropriate step to be as sustainable as possible in order to help to protect our planet and the safety of our children.

“As a member of 1% For The Planet, Wolf & Zephyr’s contribution of one percent of annual sales directly benefits any of the approved non-profit environmental organisations in the network. Wolf & Zephyr feels honoured to be able to share its success with organisations that are there on the frontline. Giving back more than we take, leaving the most minimal environmental footprint”

The Range

The Wolf & Zephyr range includes rings, necklaces, bangles, earrings plus they have a vintage section. I was particularly looking for a new necklace and what I loved immediately when I started looking at this range was that these were available in a variety of designs and chain lengths which allows the wearer to easily layer them, creating their very own style.

The Website

Their website is very easy to navigate, their menu is clear and you can find exactly what piece you’d like in a click. The variety is fantastic as is their price range which means there is definitely something for everybody here.

On ordering you simply select the piece you’d like, whether you’d like it in silver or gold and which chain length you want (4 sizes). You can add this to a wishlist if you’d like somebody to gift you your jewellery piece otherwise you can pay via paypal, card or in instalments.

Delivery and Packaging

Delivery was very fast (arrived recorded delivery via Royal Mail) and on opening, their packaging was just stunning. My chosen necklace arrived in a lovely cardboard box and just inside was a beautiful powder pink thank you card. Inside here is another elegant box in which the necklace is placed. All packaging is eco-friendly as it is all recycled and biodegradable.

First Thoughts

When I opened the box I was honestly blown away by how beautiful my necklace was. I chose the Water Element Necklace in gold as I love star signs and I felt that it held a deeper meaning. I don’t usually opt for gold but the type that Wolf & Zephyr use isn’t your typical gold look. They use a thick gold Vermeil which is a plating over the top of sterling silver which gives it a gorgeous shade and finish. The three Aquamarine Gemstones are a stunning colour to have next to this gold and I love the touch of having the word water inscribed on the other side.

Wearing The Necklace

I usually struggle with necklaces as I have quite broad shoulders and neck and I can rarely find a chain that is long enough to allow the necklace to sit where I’d prefer it to. I opted for a 20cm chain for my Water Element Necklace as I really wanted it to sit much lower than anything else I own and because I want to experiment with layering them too.

The necklace has a simple clasp fastening and as soon as I popped it on I knew I’d made the right decision. It sat perfectly on my chest and the design just looked beautiful.

I must admit I did think that William (3) would take a big interest in it and try to pull at it but he proved to be very good, he took a little look, said he liked it and that was that which means I can wear jewellery again with no issues!

a closer look of the necklace

I wore the Wolf & Zephyr necklace all day and as I went to go to bed I actually forgot I had it on. It had felt comfortable and had sat either just over my top or under it throughout the day without causing problems or irritations. I don’t know about you but I find some chains begin to rub on my neck after a few hours so I was so pleased to find that this one hadn’t done so at all.

I have since worn my beautiful new necklace with a top, a jumper and a dress and I love all of the looks. It can be dressed up or down, worn on show or tucked away and also layered, it is just so versatile.

Overall Thoughts

This company is so exciting to me. Not only do they tick the boxes on the eco-friendly, sustainability and ethical sides but they also create stunning pieces that are easy to wear whatever the occasion. I would highly recommend them as a jewellery shop and I will most certainly be using them again in the future.
