How To Create A Casual Look That Will Turn Heads
*Collaborative Post
As a parent, a casual look suits me. I can move about easily, I can bend down and pick up the toys for the 10th time that day, I can chase a toddler down the street and I can feel comfortable whilst doing it. However, when we think of casual we often think about it being drab but it really doesn’t have to be this way. Here’s how to create a casual look that will turn heads.
Hair and Make-up
There is a huge difference between being casual and being messy. Ok, so yes, the school run is usually the place where we are make-up free and sporting a messy bun but for the rest of the time, both of these can be done up and look amazing whilst being quite casual. Freshly washed hair with loose curls look both relaxed but elegant, straightened hair will look neat and tidy or plaits will look cute but also be sensible to have with kids around. If you like to switch it up, natural hair extensions make it possible to add volume and length to your hair instantly. As for make-up, a quick touch of foundation, a little blush, a lick of mascara plus some lip gloss will immediately brighten up your face without going over the top.
Jewellery
Jewellery can easily be worn everyday without making you look as though you are far too glam. Layer necklaces over your top and choose bright dangly earrings. Opt for a selection of beads for interest on your arm and in the summer add an anklet. Subtle pieces will make you look as though your casual look has been carefully put together.
T-Shirts
I love a good t-shirt for the daytime, they are easy to move in and they are comfy and breathable too but I don’t want to be a plain Jane all of the time so choosing a funky print is a must. A bold logo, a slogan, animal prints and pretty designs will all be head turners. T-shirts really don’t need to be boring and can actually make a big statement. They will always look fab with jeans and can be worn all year round too so why not make the most of this essential item and shop around for some new additions to your wardrobe?
Footwear
Casual footwear doesn’t need to be boring, in fact, you can easily add a small kitten heel, a trendy pump, an ankle boot and so on to a pair of jeans and it will immediately take you from ‘Mum on the school run’ to a chic look. The great thing about a casual look is that certain pieces can still be casual and other areas can be more dressy which is how you will make the fashion statement you are after.
Hats
Hats have been big business recently but finding your style with them can prove to be tricky. Luckily, there is a wide variety in the shops and you may even have your best luck in a secondhand store where you’ll be able to pick up unique items. For a smart/casual look why not try looking at oversized floppy hats, cowboy hats or a Fedora hat? Then for the winter, you cannot go wrong with a large bobble hat.
Handbag
Choosing a stylish, funky handbag will finish off your look. If you like a bit a quirkiness why not team up a brightly coloured pair of tights with the same colour bag? Or choose one with long fringing, a slogan, a fun print or stripes? A cross over body bag is useful and functional for your everyday routine but can also completely transform your overall look in an instant.
Your casual look can be both comfortable and stylish without breaking the bank or being classed as fast fashion. This look should see you through many years of wear and always be on trend as it is your trend.
