If your anniversary is on the horizon, you’ll probably be looking for ways to make the day – and night – extra-special but it isn’t always easy to come up with fresh new ideas. If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are some fun, romantic and original date ideas for your anniversary.

Indulge in a Spa Day

If you’ve both been feeling stressed, then a couple’s spa day could be the perfect way to spend your anniversary. Whether you go for a day or a full weekend, pampering yourselves at a spa retreat will leave you both feeling super chilled and blissed out. If you’re on a budget, a DIY spa at home is a more affordable alternative. Light some candles, get out your fluffiest towels, pop on a face mask, and give each other a massage with an aromatherapy massage oil.

Take a City Break

A weekend away gives you a break from your usual routine and exploring a new city together can bring you and your partner closer. Make sure your trip starts on the right foot with a custom playlist for the car or train journey and plenty of extra treats like white chocolate so your trip feels special from the get-go.

Learn a Skill Together

Learning a new skill with your partner can strengthen your bond and may even have you seeing your other half in a brand new light. Take up a dancing class together, like salsa or swing dancing, sign up for an art class or pick up some new culinary skills at a cooking class.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

If you’ve been together a while, that first flush of love may seem a long time ago. Take a trip down memory lane together by recreating your first date or proposal and getting her a timeless vintage, preowned ring to remind yourself of those butterfly moments and how far you’ve come. You could revisit your wedding venue or even renew your vows. If you haven’t been together very long, why not start collecting memories now? You could create a scrapbook with photos, tickets and mementoes to look over on future anniversaries.

Have a Laugh

Laughter isn’t just the best medicine, it’s also a great way to feel more connected to each other. Get tickets for a comedy show or stream your favourite comedian, snuggle up on the sofa and get giggling. For a more hands-on approach, you could even make your own fun with silly activities to get you both laughing, like visiting a charity shop together and choosing the least flattering outfits for each other to wear for your date night.

Get Competitive

A bit of healthy competition can be a good thing in a relationship. You could book a bowling alley or plan a games night. Or if you’re both sporty types, then why not challenge each other to a game or match? After all, they do say all’s fair in love and war!
