As an ex-shoe shop manager, I have a thing about shoes. For starters, I love them! I have always owned far too many (much to the husband’s dismay) and I have always been drawn to great quality over cheap, throwaway items and gorgeous designs will get me every time. So, when my first child, Jake, began to walk it was inevitable that I would want well-fitting shoes, which would protect his feet, allow for growth and last. This may be a risky post as I know there are some avid Clarks bashers out there but I feel that as an ex-employee–yes, that’s right, 8 years at Clarks with 6 as a manager– I need to stand up for them because even though I left back in 2012 I still feel very strongly about the service that this store has to offer.

So, I used to work for a very well-known shoe retailer. I worked my way up in the company to become a Manager of a store and I was extremely passionate about what I did, especially when it came down to fitting kid’s shoes correctly. Those who worked for me will fondly remember (you loved it really!) all the training I put them through, how I worked far too many hours and had them dusting and organising the shop in every spare moment! I felt that we provided more than just an item to wear, we provided a service to ensure that people went away with well-fitting shoes and better overall knowledge of foot health.
