When it comes to making sustainable swaps, the kitchen can be one of the best places to start. We can use so many plastic bottles, plastic-based sponges, and single-use plastic in this room that it can often feel like a very wasteful area of the house, but change IS doable thanks to some amazing brands who are leading the way in sustainably conscious products. Seep is one such business and one I have purchased from and loved for years. Founded by Laura in 2020 to help more people move to plastic-free cleaning products, Seep has rapidly grown and achieved just that. Did you know they were featured on Dragon’s Den in 2025 and backed by 2 of the Dragons?! They are also B Corp Certified, support many charities, including On a Mission and The Hygiene Bank and are on a mission to save 1 billion cleaning tools from going to landfill by 2030. If all of this ticks your eco and ethical boxes, stick around to read about my favourite products and to save yourself 15% on all orders over £10 with my discount code.
Seep Eco Sponge
This had to come first because even if you don’t use any other washing up tools, everybody surely uses a sponge and this sponge will change your life for the better! Ordinary washing up sponges (those yellow and green ones) are made solely out of plastic. Derived from fossil fuels, plastic has a negative environmental impact from the moment it is produced. On top of this, each and every time you wash up with one, microplastics are shed into our waterways and some may even be left behind on your plate or cup. Choosing a sponge made from natural materials is an easy way of keeping yourself and the planet healthy. Seep’s eco sponges are made from wood pulp cellulose and loofah making them 100% plastic-free and compostable at the end of their life.

I can hand on heart say that these eco sponges work exceptionally well. We made this switch in 2023 and I would never go back to a plastic sponge. These feel better both in your hand and during use; you can really feel the quality. They clean deep down making washing up easier. They last for absolutely ages – you’ll be shocked. And you can also wash them in the washing machine or dishwasher to extend their life.
I’ve disposed of all of ours in our home compost bin and there has never been any trace left behind.
You can purchase this Seep product in a pack of four here or a 1 year supply (12 sponges) here. If you spend over £10 you can get 15% off with my code EMMAREED_WRITES (the links should also take 15% off for you at the checkout).
Eco Sponge Cloths
Cloths are always super handy to have in the kitchen. We ditched kitchen roll years ago to opt for reusable cloths for all of our cleaning and spills and it’s not only saved us money but also an awful lot of waste. Seeps eco sponge cloths are hard-wearing, washable, made from natural materials and can be used in a variety of ways in the kitchen and even other areas of the home. These facts always blow my mind – the Seep eco sponge can absorb 15 times it’s own weight AND they can replace up to 15 rolls of paper towels!!

We love these for wiping down the kitchen sides, kitchen doors and drawers and cleaning up messes but they could also be used for washing up, cleaning the bath or shower or even skirting boards. They glide over surfaces and pick up debris really easily making them a great sustainable cleaning choice.
You can purchase these cloths in a 2 pack here or just one on its own here and in a 4 pack here. The same applies as above with my discount code, just spend over £10 to get 15% off.
Copper Scourers
For those tougher jobs, sometimes you need something a little with a bit more oomph, and that’s exactly what Seep’s copper scourers have. Made entirely from copper, these scrunchy balls tackle burnt on grease and grime effortlessly. Did you know that copper is naturally anti-bacterial and won’t rust? Plus, it is 100% recyclable, infinitely – BRILLIANT!!

You can currently purchase these as a pack of 6 and my discount code will be applied too when you spend over £10.
Eco Rubber Gloves
You can’t possibly do all that plastic-free washing up whilst wearing plastic gloves so make sure to also add Seep’s zero plastic, 100% natural rubber washing up gloves to your basket. These last absolutely ages, they are really comfortable to wear, they have hand and fingertip grip which can also aid in cleaning, and they look great too (yellow has def had its day!!) Available in 3 sizes, Seep really has thought of everything.

You can purchase a set of 3 from their website here and yep, you’ve guessed it, you will get 15% off.
All-Purpose Bamboo Cloth
To replace your micro-fibre cloths (that contain plastic) and kitchen roll, opt for something much more gentle on the planet and your skin – bamboo cloths. These from Seep not only feel amazing but they also glide over worktops, leaving them effortlessly clean. You can use them both wet and dry so they can be used to clean all over the house and because they are made from Bamboo, they are washable and reusable. We’ve been using these cloths for a while now and they have always washed really well, no signs of wear yet.

You can purchase your set here. Just make sure to add more items to get the sale to over £10 in order to benefit from my discount.
