Poem: ‘There’s no Place like Home’
There’s no place like home, a clever girl once said,
With brown plaited hair and shoes ruby red
We may like to travel and get away from it all,
But there’s really nothing like walking back through that door,
Into your home welcomed with smiles, hugs galore,
Making you realise that you have been missed for sure,
Looking into excited eyes as you hold your baby tight,
Whispering into their ears, Mummy’s here, everything is alright
For a few days for you can seem like a lifetime to them,
They have changed, can talk more and now count to ten!
The feeling of snuggles and holding a warm cup of tea,
My boys, my pets all surrounding me
It’s fun to get away, to laugh, dance and play
But it’s better at home, because at the end of the day,
These are the people who know me the best
These are the ones who love me above the rest,
This little lot I need to next to me,
These beautiful people, for they are my family
