I have a secret…

I’m a bit obsessed with cute baby clothes. I’m also a bit obsessed with funky prints and designs. Add in eco-friendly, enough space to fit a fluff cloth bum and I’m hooked.

Which is precisely why I’ve been lusting over the gorgeous children’s clothes from Little Drop in the Ocean for months now. Not only does Kathryn select only sustainably sourced clothing and materials, she also designs and prints every item herself by hand. As well as this, the company makes a donation from each sale to the conservation charity ‘Surfers Against Sewage’ who are working hard to keep our oceans and beaches clean and safe for wildlife, sea creatures and also for the future enjoyment of our children by organising beach cleanups, helping to educate school children and encouraging plastic free lifestyles.

If you have been following me for a while you will know that protecting our environment and making eco-friendly changes have recently become a major focus for me. I have always been very aware of the impact we are all having on the environment but living in a day and age where disposable has become the norm, it hasn’t always been very clear as to how we could and should be changing. Luckily, social media, bloggers, campaigners and companies like Little Drop in the Ocean are making it so much easier for us to learn how to make better choices which will have a positive impact on the future of our planet…

“I launched Little Drop In The Ocean to promote what I believe in and care about to make a difference to our beautiful planet and the people that live on it.”

“All our garments are made from GOTS certified 100% organic cotton that comes from either certified factories that use ethical methods for manufacturing and renewable energies or small family-run businesses in India. In both instances, everyone is paid and treated fairly for the work they do.”

The Designs…

Not only this but their clothing is just gorgeous (I may have mentioned that already?!!) From cute baby vests to funky t-shirts, fantastic colourful dungarees and comfy pants they have something for all of your little people. So, when Kathryn contacted me on Instagram, I was over the moon to be asked to review a couple of pieces for her! And, I already knew exactly what I wanted for William: this gorgeous whale themed vest and splash pants…

William’s bedroom is nautical themed and we adore spending time at the beach so both of these just stood out to me. I love both of the prints but the whale on the vest is really cute as the design wraps around to the back:

The Quality…

The fabric on both items is lovely and soft and thick which immediately made me think it would last really well and be hard-wearing for all that investigating that 9-month-olds get up to! That is one thing I think all of us parents look for in clothing, isn’t it? Both of my boys are little adventurers and their clothes end up going through the mill because we are always out and about at woods, parks, the beach, at country parks and so on. I’ve been disappointed by so many big retailers’ clothing items in the past as I’ve been left with fading, bobbling, holes and shrinking that I have started to lose confidence in some. If the clothes last well I am happy to pay a little bit more as it saves on my wallet in the long run and prevents more waste going to landfill.

What’s to love?…

One of the main reasons I love pants like these is because we use reusable nappies with William and this can make finding bottoms quite difficult as not all retailers allow enough room to accommodate them. Kathryn has taken this into consideration and has selected items that give more than enough space for a fluff bum and these didn’t disappoint.

The fabric proved to be really stretchy which meant there was no struggle to get the splash pants up and on or over his nappy which makes life so much easier when you have a super wriggly baby who is reluctant to stay still for even a moment!

The Prices…

This doesn’t actually come as a set but as they matched I knew they had to be paired up. The splash pants are priced from £15-£20 and are available from birth up to 5 years of age (price increases with age). The vest is £12 and is available from birth up to 12 months.

The Verdict…

I love these items from little drop in the ocean and I have been more than impressed not only with the fast delivery, the look and the fit but also with the customer care I have received. Kathryn was always quick to message me back and to query the washing instructions– it states 30° on the clothing yet customers have reported that a 40° is absolutely fine and she even performed her own test for me herself to check the durability, how about that for dedication, eh?! The range available is stunning and I am so pleased to see that I can also purchase for Jake and there is now even an adult T-shirt on their website so I am pretty sure this means there is much more to come!
