Are you keen to get up close to some of the world’s most fascinating wildlife on your next family day out? Then heading to one of Britain’s top safari parks may be the answer! Not only is this a fun and exciting way to spend a day, but also an opportunity to learn about conservation and the natural world with your little ones. Here are some great safari parks in the UK to visit on your next family trip.

1. Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Yorkshire Wildlife Park is located in Auckley, Doncaster, and offers a huge range of fantastic experiences for you and your little ones. There are around 475 animals to admire, from majestic polar bears and tigers to giraffes and baboons.

Not only can you spot wildlife, but dinosaurs too! The land of Pangea is a new dinosaur area that allows you to roam among pre-historic species like the T-Rex, stegosaurus, and velociraptor. It’s a fun, immersive and educational experience for the whole family.

2. Knowsley Safari Park

Sat just outside Liverpool in Prescot, Knowsley Safari Park is easily accessible by train, bus, or car. When you arrive, embark on the UK’s longest safari drive at 5 miles long to spot wildlife around the grounds. Head through Lion Country to see the pride, the Asian area to spot camels and deer, and the African zone where you’ll see rhinos, ostriches, and more.

There are also walking trails where you can get up close to even more species including meerkats and giraffes. With rides, amusements, and animal displays to enjoy, you and your little ones will be entertained all day long.

3. Blair Drummond Safari Park

Sat on a huge 160-acre plot, Blair Drummond Safari Park is just outside Stirling in Scotland. You can get up close to a huge range of wildlife from your car as you drive through the reserve, including rhinos, monkeys, and lions. Just make sure you have your windows shut!

You can also learn interesting facts about the animals at one of the talks that run daily, or see birds of prey in action at a display presentation. Your kids are also sure to love the play area which includes a huge fort, sandpit, and slides. Plus there’s a small funfair with lots of fun rides to enjoy!

4. West Midland Safari Park

West Midland Safari Park can be found to the southwest of Birmingham, close to Kidderminster. It’s a fantastic park packed full of things to do and see – head out on a drive-through safari, explore by foot on the walking trails, or choose a minibus safari for your own guided tour.

You can also journey back in time to the Ice Age where you can get up close and personal with prehistoric creatures like the woolly mammoth and sabre-tooth cat. After that, head to the African Village to spot lemurs and meerkats, before taking your little ones to the multi-sensory play area – Boj’s Giggly Park.

With so many safari parks to enjoy a fun and fascinating day out, which will you choose?
