5 Style Cheats for Men and Women
*Collaborative Post
We live in an image-obsessed society where looking your best at all times seems to be important. Being stylish is usually something that you are born with – some people have it, and some of us are sadly lacking. How can you set yourself apart from the crowd and not be a figure of ridicule? It’s a tightrope to walk, but if you need a little guidance, read on to find style cheats that will help with your look.
1. Buy for Your Body
If the current fashions dictate that you wear something that doesn’t flatter your body shape, avoid them. The clothes that you wear need to not only fit you but flatter your body shape. Not enough people pay attention to their body when they buy clothes, but by choosing clothes that fit you well makes you appear more stylish immediately.
2. Invest in wardrobe staples
There are some things that you need to have in your wardrobe, and you need to consider them as an investment as they will be the basis for most of your looks. Having fewer expensive clothes that will last is preferable to having plenty of cheaper clothes that won’t survive many washing cycles. Rather than opting for high-fashion cuts, choose classic styles that will be in favour beyond any fads or trends.
All clothes that you buy should be bought strategically – you want to be able to just grab something from your wardrobe without having to worry about whether you clash! These are key wardrobe items that both men and women should invest in:
- A great pair of jeans
- A pair of black trousers
- Quality t-shirts in neutral colours – both short and long-sleeved.
- A white shirt or blouse
- A blazer/jacket
- A long winter coat/classic trench coat
3. Have accent garments
You may be wondering what an accent garment is – think of it as a way to introduce your own style to your wardrobe staples, something that can add interest or colour. It could be a vintage lace dress or something more retro, like a 1970s safari jacket. Either way, there are many women and men’s retro clothing stores online, where you can find such unique and classical items. You don’t want your whole outfit to be of the same fashion, but by combining accent garments with your staples, you are exuding understated style – you don’t want to look like you’ve tried too hard!
Watch bands are an often overlooked yet essential accessory that can significantly enhance your overall style and elevate your fashion game. Whether you opt for a sleek metal band for a sophisticated touch, a classic leather band for timeless elegance, or a vibrant silicone Apple watch band for a sporty and modern look, the right watch strap choice can effortlessly complement your wardrobe staples and accent garments. By paying attention to the details, grooming yourself meticulously, and properly caring for your clothes, you can project a stylish image that sets you apart from the crowd. Remember, it’s not about following the latest fashion trends but rather investing in quality pieces that speak to your personal style and effortlessly make an impact.
4. Grooming
Chipped nail varnish or dirt under your nails is a big no-no when it comes to looking stylish. Pay attention to the finer details: do your hair, clean your nails and iron your clothes to project that you are indeed stylish, and always make sure that your shoes are clean.
5. Care for your clothes
Being stylish means being maintained, and that means sewing buttons back on jackets when they come slack and dealing with any loose threads as they appear. Keep your clothes clean and stored properly – use wooden hangers to retain the shape of sweaters and always read the care labels!
You don’t have to have the latest fashions to be stylish, on the contrary, invest in wardrobe staples that can be dressed up or down to make an impact. Inject some personal style with accent garments that can separate you from the majority and make you the style icon you are destined to be.
