6 Sleep Disruptions Your Mattress Might Be Causing
*Collaborative Post
Every night, you may overlook several contributors to poor sleep. You may observe stress, screen time, and caffeine, but your mattress could be the culprit.
When your body has to compensate for inadequate support, it’s time to make a change. Consider the following list to see how your mattress may be disrupting sleep and what it may be causing.
1. Persistent Back and Neck Pain
Stiffness or soreness in the morning may indicate your mattress is not aligning with your spine. An overly soft mattress may allow your hips to sink, while an overly firm mattress may apply pressure to your shoulders and lower back. Prolonged misalignment will cause pain to become chronic.
If your pain gets better after moving, this is a strong indication that it’s bed-related. You should feel relaxed after your sleep, not feel bed pain. If pain is getting worse, consider the bed you sleep on.
2. Frequent Tossing and Turning
If Mattresses are not providing proper support, it’s most likely going to result in you changing your sleeping position a lot throughout the night. Movement like this is awful because it prevents you from getting to the deeper stages of sleep.
You may feel discomfort, soreness, or numbness from your body’s shifting movement, even if you don’t fully wake up. This is caused by the bed being uneven and having sagging areas.
3. Overheating During the Night
Mattresses that trap heat can cause difficulty staying and falling asleep. It can also lead to excessive sweating and cause you to wake repeatedly. This effect is especially true for older material that doesn’t allow airflow.
You may find yourself having to pull blankets off and turning pillows to find the cool side. That cycle interrupts your rest and keeps your sleep light.
4. Allergy Flare-Ups and Congestion
It is possible for dust mites and other allergens to accumulate on old mattresses. If you wake up with a stuffy nose, sneezing, and itchy eyes, it’s possible that your mattress is the cause of these symptoms. You might be experiencing symptoms of illness due to allergens in your mattress, and washing your sheets won’t help.
Travelling or sleeping in a different bed may be an indication of the cause of your allergies if they improve.
5. Disturbed Sleep From Partner Movement
Anytime you sleep next to someone, your partner’s movements become more noticeable, and bad mattresses make this worse.
If your mattress isn’t supportive, it can make your partner’s movements worse and make you feel like you’re moving a lot when you might not be. Even if you sleep for a long period of time, the constant motions that occur throughout the night can cause you to feel exhausted.
6. Waking Up Feeling Unrefreshed
Even if you don’t have any obvious injuries or allergies, that doesn’t mean that your mattress isn’t having an effect on how well you sleep. It is possible that you will not experience a sense of restoration if your body is not receiving uninterrupted deep sleep. Your level of comfort and support can have an effect on the cycles of your sleep.
There is a possibility that you are experiencing a side effect that is associated with getting older or living a busy life. Your mattress is a significant factor, which is something you might not be aware of.
Sleep Better, Live Better
Settling your sleep disruptions where they originate gives your body the proper recovery. Sleep plays a huge role in one’s focus, mood, and well-being. If you have noticed changes, you should check your mattress.
