What To Do With Pets When You Go On Holiday

Going on holiday is a fun, exciting time. However, if you are a pet owner, it can also be a little bit stressful. You need to organise what you are going to do with your pets while you are on holiday well in advance of leaving for your holiday. You all love your pets, as I do and I know how tough it can be to leave them behind. Here are a few options of what you can do with your pets when you go on holiday.

Pet Sitter

One of the options available to you is to hire a pet sitter. This might be a professional who has their entire business revolving around pet sitting or it might be a member of your family or a friend. The benefit of hiring a professional is that you know that they will have a certain level of professionalism and will know what to do in almost any situation. However, they can be expensive depending on how long you are away for, so you might want to leave instructions for your friend or family member. Either way, you will be having someone come and see your pet a few times a day (usually twice) to feed them, walk them or do whatever else needs doing. If you have a dog, then this is probably not the solution for you as it will likely get very lonely between visits so you might want to consider other options on this list. If you have another pet, then this might be perfect.

Leave Them With Someone

Another option available to you is to leave them with someone else. This might be leaving them with friends or family for the duration of your holiday or with a professional company. For example, if you have a dog, then you might want to leave them in kennels so that they can be looked after while you are away and will have the company of other dogs and won’t cause any mischief in your home while you are gone. Alternatively, if you choose to leave them with friends and family then they can enjoy having a pet for a few days, and your pet will receive a lot of love and attention while you are gone. Either option might be best for your given situation, so it is worth considering both or you could simply take your pet on holiday with you.

Take Them With You

The final option available to pet owners is to take their pets on holiday with them. This will not be suitable for all types of pet. For example, if you own things like budgies or snakes then you aren’t going to be able to take them on holiday with you for obvious reasons. However, if you have something like a dog or rabbit and want to take it on holiday, then there are options available to you. If you are going to drive the entire journey to your holiday destination, then there is no reason that your pet can’t join you in the car. Alternatively, you could take your pet on the aeroplane with you and then just claim them once you land similar to how you would claim your luggage. If you do choose to take your pets on a plane with you, then there are some things you need to consider and prepare them for such as the time of day that you travel and how to keep them from worrying or feeling stressed. However, it can be a great way to take your pet on holiday with you.
