SURI sustainable electric toothbrush review

SURI Sustainable Electric Toothbrush Review

When I started making plastic-free swaps around the home the bamboo toothbrush was one of the first products I tried. Everybody online seemed to be sharing them, saying how good they are for the planet and what an easy swap it was and I did agree to an extent but having used an electric toothbrush for most of my life, switching back to a manual brush just didn’t quite feel right to me. I didn’t like the sensation, I would press too hard to try and get that decent fresh clean feel but would just end up with sore gums and I really didn’t like the results – my teeth certainly didn’t look as white. I was really disappointed but when it comes to things like oral health or any health, you have to put that first and so I went back to the drawing board to see what my other options were… And this is when I stumbled across SURI. They are a sustainable electric toothbrush brand that has designed and created the world’s first plant-based electric toothbrush which is fully repairable and recyclable. I went straight ahead and bought one and have now been using this toothbrush for around 10 months so I thought it was about time I wrote up an honest review…

How To Create a Birdwatching Hub in Your Own Back Garden

Do you enjoy a bit of birdwatching? Maybe just through your window at home? Or perhaps you are a hobbyist and venture out with your binoculars? I must admit since we began feeding the birds in our garden I have become a little bit obsessed with watching what they get up to. I feel as though I can now really appreciate seeing wildlife here whereas before it wasn’t something I was overly aware of – probably because it was so nature depleted! But now we have a variety of birds visiting it’s brought this space to life. We even took part in the RSPB Big Bird Watch this year for the very first time! We have a fairly small garden so we tend to watch from the house windows but if you have the space outside you could create a birdwatching hub. On top of this you could also take a few more steps to attract the birds to your garden and here are a few ideas…

We all know that our earth is continuously suffering from climate change. However, as mindful customers, we can change our shopping habits which can help us fight against this condition as well as waste.

An eco-friendly purchase does not imply that you cannot go shopping. Rather, you need to be more conscious before purchasing any product. For instance – you need to be careful about what you are buying, how the product is made, how it impacts the earth, etc. So, when purchasing anything, keep the planet and people in mind. Preparing For and Going To My Very First Protest!

Finally, I finally got to go to my very first protest. After lockdowns, covid risks, train strikes, bad timings, and more train strikes, I found a protest march that was possible to attend and it just happened to be The Big One! A 4 day long (peaceful) protest held by Extinction Rebellion with other amazing organisations such as Greenpeace, Friends of The Earth, Parents For Future, Fossil Free London and so many more all coming together to demand change and action on climate change and environmental issues from our Government. I went along on the Saturday with my 5-year-old to march for Biodiversity and this is how we prepared for that and how we got on at our first protest.

Happy Beaks Garden Bird Essentials Review and Giveaway

Attracting more wildlife to our garden has been something that we have been working hard on for the last few years. Owning a reasonably new home, it is common for areas to become nature depleted for a time after construction, yet even though we moved in a few years after the build and added a better lawn, more plants, bushes and even a tree, we still weren’t happy about the lack of wildlife we were attracting here. So, we went a little further. We added a pond made out of a planter, we increased the number of plants, we stopped making the garden “super tidy” and left leaves/twigs on the ground for longer, we started taking part in ‘No Mow May’ and we began to feed the birds – just a little seed at first in bowls and then fat balls in a wooden feeder and then we moved onto mealworms and even built a little wooden house feeder for the smaller bird varieties. Another pond was built, this time a small wildlife one within our flower bed and little by little we saw a change. Our visitors now included more birds, a hedgehog, dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies, hummingbird moths and more. Our garden residents suddenly included a frog and a nesting pair of blackbirds who last year had 3 broods in our tiny garden and who have returned this spring to do it all over again – and we are over the moon. Our garden has finally sprung to life and I am still eager to further increase the wildlife here, and thanks to Happy Beaks, I can now take the next steps. Oh, and if you stay until the end you could be able to as well by entering the giveaway!
