Mighty Mouthcare Review of The New and Improved V2 Dispenser and Refills for 2026

Last summer, we were contacted by Mighty Mouthcare to review their brand new refillable toothpaste. Having been living more sustainably for the last 9 years or so, finding an eco toothpaste that works, tastes good and is affordable was proving quite difficult at the time so I jumped for joy when I read the words “Refillable Toothpaste”. This was something many people had been longing for. And if you head over and read my review, you will see that we were over the moon with the product and became customers. So, when it came to 2026 and the brand shared that they were making improvements to the refill and dispenser I was quite surprised. We had always found the current items to work well but others had fed back a few niggles and being the type of company that they are, they listened (I knew I liked them!) They didn’t disregard these pointers, instead they worked with them to create a new and improved V2 dispenser and refill tubes. We have had ours for a few months now, so I thought I would write up a new review and include the relevant information for this 2026 model. (stick around to the end for a discount code)

Who Are Mighty Mouthcare?

Mighty Mouthcare are a UK based, sustainable brand who, in 2025, after recognising the HUGE plastic toothpaste tube problem the world had – 3 billion tubes into landfill type problem – launched their innovative refillable toothpaste idea. The product consisted of a plastic refillable dispenser and compostable refill tubes (although they were waiting on the home compostable certification) filled with a tasty, minty, eco-friendly paste (with fluoride), which were available on subscription so you’d never run out. And the idea worked. In fact, it worked so well that they sold out!!

Why The Changes?

Mighty Mouthcare knew that in order to ensure their brand grew and bathroom waste continued to be reduced, they had to listen to the feedback from their customers. They’d had a few reports of the pump dispenser being tricky for some people to press on, the paste not coming out as smoothly as they’d hoped, occasionally leaving a mess and the item being plastic didn’t fit with their overall message. On the refill side, they really wanted to create a tube that could be easily home composted, again to match their sustainability aims. The changes aren’t huge, we still have the dispenser and refills and the amazing toothpaste, it’s just an improvement on the original idea.

Let’s Look At What is Different

The dispenser:

The original is tall and thin and made from plastic. The V2 is a sturdier shape, easier to hold and use, and looks sleeker. It is made from aluminium. Below is a closer look:

The Refills:

The biggest change to the refills is that Mighty Mouthcare can now say they have produced the world’s first home compostable toothpaste tube!

The new version should last a month just as the old one did but this is now a zero waste item (the lid is aluminium and can go in your normal recycling bin). Below shows the lid and refills a bit closer. Not too much difference here in look, mostly just size and style but inside, the new pump has been redesigned to be smoother and more reliable.

The new V2 dispenser allows for the refill to be screwed in the top, you twist to open the pump and push down twice.

With the old version you had to screw the lid on and then twist the base to move the pump up and down. This is what caused some customers issues and what the new V2 dispenser has improved on.

The Toothpaste:

The toothpaste hasn’t changed. It is still their brilliant, effective and reliable recipe from before. No SLS, cruelty free, vegan, no harsh chemicals, dentist approved 1450 ppm flouride, fresh and minty taste.

Full ingredients: Glycerin, Aqua, Hydrated Silica, Calcium Carbonate, Sodium Monofluorophosphate, Xylitol, Decyl Glucoside, Cellulose Gum, Coco-Glucoside, Stevioside, Papain, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Oil, Menthol, Mentha Piperita Oil, Pinene, Beta-Caryophyllene, Limonene

All you need is two pumps on your toothbrush twice a day for a fresh clean.

Using the New V2 Dispenser and Refills

The switch from the old version to this new model has been seemless. It is much easier to swap the refills now – no fiddling around with the base and the kids can change them effortlessly. The pump works well but I have to admit we didn’t see a problem with the old pump anyway. The dispenser definitely looks better and it doesn’t fall over like the old one used to when accidentally knocked. I love the fact that I can home compost the refill tubes because this means I have less waste in the bin and more compost for the garden! And the subscription service is still available meaning our refills get delivered straight to our door when we need them.

Our Overall Thoughts

We still love Mighty Mouthcare and will continue to use it. The brand clearly work hard and quickly to resolve issues and they listen to their customers; showing they value them. They have created a product we all so desperately needed and they are trying their best to make a difference.
