Moving to a new property is never simple. There are several things to organize once you’ve found your dream property.

You’ll need to find a reliable courier, such as, and start packing up your belongings, while also liaising with the solicitor to organize a suitable date to exchange contracts. Your utility, internet, and insurance providers will need to be informed of your move too.

You also need to consider what you’re doing with your existing property. Are you selling it or renting it out for an extra stream of income? Does anything need to be fixed before you move out?

No matter where you’re moving to or how many belongings you have to pack up, moving can be stressful. Organizing your to-do list is crucial to make sure you don’t forget anything important amidst the chaos.

Below, we’ve created the ultimate moving home checklist to make things as simple as possible for you. We’ve split up the checklist into multiple areas so you can focus on them one at a time. This will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed during your move and hopefully make it run as smoothly as possible.

Checking Over Your Existing Property

Here are some key things to check in your existing property before you sell or rent it:

  1. Electrical circuit safety
  2. Water supply to the taps, toilet, and radiator
  3. Scratches or marks on the walls and carpets
  4. Kitchen cabinet quality
  5. Missing or damaged roof tiles

Packing Up Your Belongings

Here are some key tips for when you’re packing up your belongings for a move:

  2. Book your courier in advance
  3. Ask your local shops for second-hand cardboard boxes
