Qualities To Look For In A Family Car

Aah, the family car. Whilst pre-kids it was pretty easy to pick out a car that you loved, you now shop for your vehicle with a different agenda in mind. Gone are the days of looking at those two-seaters, convertible cars, and in come the family-friendly alternatives. Whilst there are some things that you need to look for in a family car, it really doesn’t need to be boring or unappealing. Practicality and style can go hand in hand! Here are some of the things that you need to consider, when you’re buying your kid-friendly car.

An easy-to-clean interior

The interior of your car is one of the main things that you have to consider when you’re going to be driving around with your kids in the back because they are probably going to spill juice all over it. Wipe down seats are more ideal for families with young kids, so leather may be a good choice here if it’s within your budget. Whatever you decide upon, try to think about how easy it will be to keep your car clean, and orange-juice-free, and you’ll be glad that you did so.

A bigger boot

Whilst a bigger boot probably will mean that your car is a little bit more junk-filled than usual, it is a good idea to opt for a car that offers this. Undoubtedly, you will have to deal with a football falling onto the road every time you open it. However, it does also mean that you’ll be able to get in any bags for family holidays, and all of the stuff you could possibly need for a day in the park. Let’s be honest, when you’ve got kids, you need all of the storage space that you can get, even on the road.

A used car

We all want to have that perfect new car, but the truth is that when you’ve got kids, you don’t really need to get one. Check out Ron Skinner & Sons or another dealership near you, and you’ll see how much you can really save just by opting for a used model. We all know that it’s not going to stay perfect for long, anyway, and you can get a car that is like new for a lot less money. For families dealing with the constant costs, you could save yourself some cash by opting for used cars.

A 5-door model

One of the worst mistakes that you could make (although some disagree here) is to purchase a 3 door vehicle. Leaning over to put your kids in the car seats this way is totally not ideal, and you can save yourself a lot of time if you stick with their 5 door counterparts. Of course, you’ll need child locks on the back doors, but it’s a good idea to make sure that you have 5 of them, as it allows you to go about your day with a lot more ease than is provided by a 3 door model.

So, if you’re buying a family car, keep these things in mind!
