#SmearForSmear – Why Are Women Risking Their Lives?

Smear tests are back in the limelight again and not for a good reason. Those attending their 3 yearly test is decreasing and are at their lowest for 20 years, with 1 in 4 women ignoring their letters inviting them to go for this life-saving check– this drops to 1 in 3 for those aged 25-29.

So what has happened since then to explain this drop? Perhaps the fact that the new generation of girls who are now turning 25 may not remember or even know about Jade’s story? Have we stopped discussing it enough? Are we even more shy about these type of procedures than ever before? Or are women just far too busy to take some time to focus on themselves? I’m not sure what the answer is but what I do know is that far too many women are needlessly risking their lives.

Being a Mum Without a Mum

Becoming a Mum was the one thing in life that I was always certain about. Having been brought up surrounded by strong females I was always confident of the fact that this was for me and that I would have the best support any girl could wish for…

Unfortunately, fate would have other ideas. Having battled with Cancer for 15 years it finally took its hold over my Mum’s body and there was nothing more that could be done. I had watched this strong,

For this reason, I wanted to find some truly inspiring people who have a story that needs to be told. Each week I will bring you a different story with a different angle but one that you will just have to read.

Today Rose from Bell and Bear blog talks of how losing a Mum to Cancer affects not only herself but also her children. Continue reading “Inspirational Stories Week Six: Bell and Bear Blog- Being a Mother without a Mother”
