As New Year’s approaches, I am pretty sure we have all turned our thoughts to those New Year’s Resolutions that we all feel we need to make. Those ones where we promise we will get fitter, have more ‘me time’, eat more healthily etc but we all know that most of these won’t last longer than February at best. And why is that? Well, because we set ourselves these high targets, we look to reach for the stars and want to see the results immediately and when that doesn’t happen, the majority of us give up.

What To Really Expect When Your Child Starts School

Ok, we have survived a term and school is now back after the Christmas break. So, after going through what we have found to be a very tricky transition (yep, both of us!) I decided to share with you lovely lot who are completing your application forms what to REALLY expect when your child starts school. Because let’s face it, there is plenty that the school will not tell you at the parent’s evenings, there will be areas that are quickly glossed over and there are things that just simply get missed or do not seem quite as important, but as I have found out, what isn’t a big deal to some may be a big deal to you.

School Days Are Coming… And I’m not Ready

Dear son,

This week was a biggie. We found out your school place and even though the build-up has been coming for months, I wasn’t expecting to feel this way. When we viewed the schools I was excited for something new but over the weekend I had a sinking feeling begin to grow in the pit of my stomach and as soon as I scanned my eyes over that long-awaited email I felt sad.
