Wild Deodorant Review

Finding a sustainable, plastic-free, natural deodorant has probably been one of the hardest parts of making my lifestyle more eco-friendly. I have tried many brands over the last couple of years and I find that they either don’t work at all, they are messy to apply or they have dried my skin out so much that it has cracked and become extremely painful. I needed a product that was in the middle ground. One that could work on my sweating but wasn’t hard to use. I’d heard great things about Wild deodorant from other people so I thought I would give it a try and here are my thoughts…

About Wild

Wild skincare products are vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, dermatologically tested and free from artificial fragrance, parabens, aluminium and sulfates. So far so good for boxes being ticked. Wild’s aim is to completely change our throwaway culture by bringing products that will reduce plastic waste and encourage the reuse of them.

Their reusable deodorant applicator is made from durable aluminium and recycled plastic and the natural deodorant is completely compostable, making it the world’s first zero-plastic deodorant refill. The deodorant is currently available in 8 different scents plus you have several colour choices for your applicator. On top of this, you can sign up for your chosen Wild deodorant to be on subscription which means you will never run out. **See below for a special offer for my readers**

Wild also give back and for every deodorant they sell, they contribute a percentage to their chosen climate charity ‘On A Mission’, to support their incredible reforestation projects.

Our goal is to produce natural products that actually work, with zero compromise on quality. Wild stays kind to your body and its environment, while offering maximum sweat security

Signing Up

I found the website to be very easy to navigate and I quickly chose a case colour, the deodorant scent and I set up a subscription. To start the subscription, you purchase the Starter Pack of one case and one refill for £12. On subscription, refills will cost £15 for a pack of three working out at just £5 per refill which is really good considering they last you around 4-6 weeks each.

the refill

I opted for the purple case and the Fresh Cotton and Sea Salt fragrance as I thought it sounded as though it would be light and fresh for summer.

Ingredients include:

Base Ingredients (Tapioca starch, bicarb, sunflower seed wax, parfum, cocoa seed butter, tocopheral acetate, stearyl alcohol, caprylic glycerides, triethyl citrate, sunflower seed oil, coconut oil, shea butter, magnesium hydroxide, zinc ricinoleate) + Limonene, Linalool, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Citronellol, Coumarin, Benzyl Alcohol, Citral

**Note that they offer a non-baking powder/bicarb range for those with sensitive skin so this contains rice starch instead**

The starter kit arrives in a cardboard box with everything you need plus directions for how to place your refill inside the applicator. Having previously used push-up deodorant sticks in cardboard packaging I knew how tricky and messy these could be so I was relieved to find out how easily the applicator worked and how straightforward it was to get the deodorant up and down within it.

The Scent

The scent on this deodorant is gorgeous, I am really glad I chose it but I have heard that others are also lush and you can also adapt your order to have a variety within your refill pack so you can mix it up if you don’t want to stick to the same scent each month.

Using the Wild Deodorant

As Wild is a natural deodorant with zero chemicals and it is not an antiperspirant your body does need time to adapt to this change. I can report that it took around 4 weeks to see the real results. In this time I was finding I was needing to apply it twice a day as I could smell myself and on very hot days I was more sweaty than I have been using a spray brand. I must admit that I really wasn’t convinced at first and I did consider giving up with it but perseverance really does pay off because I can now use it just once a day, I am dry and I am loving this swap.

I know I can apply first thing in the morning and I am protected all day. I haven’t seen any drying or irritation on my skin and it is incredibly gentle even after shaving. It has lasted a really long time too. They say it should last 4-6 weeks but I think I am on week 6/7 at the time of writing this and I still haven’t used up my first cartridge so I am thinking that this is also going to save me money in the long run.

Wild have this handy article to help you with the transition- How To Make The Switch To a Natural Deodorant.

As the applicator is sturdy, slimline and has a lid, it is easy to take out with you in your handbag, in your beach bag etc and it won’t get damaged or dirty.

Wild’s dermatologically-approved deodorant is the all natural option that works, without blocking pores or disrupting PH levels. Whatever life throws your way, our advanced formula will keep you fresh all day long

Overall Thoughts

If like me, you have struggled to find a natural deodorant that will work for you then I would recommend giving Wild a try. Being eco-friendly shouldn’t be hard and every swap needs to fit in with you and your lifestyle and I think Wild tick the boxes for that here.
