Joie Commuter Travel Cot Review

With the imminent arrival of baby number two, we have been looking into the essential items that we need to purchase or replace. We do have a second-hand travel cot from Jake’s baby days but it has always been a tricky one to set up so I was eager to see what else was now available on the market as I know children’s products adapt and change so rapidly.
Kiddies Kingdom is your one-stop online shop for all things baby and child. I had a look through their wide range of Travel Cots for sale and was immediately drawn to the Joie Commuter Travel Cot with Changing Cloud. The main reasons being that I love the colour– yes this is important to me– I love the changing mat feature, how easy would this make life when you are away? And the fact that you can reduce the issue of draughts on your sleeping baby.
The other features listed on the site include:

The Joie travel cot comes compacted into one bundle which makes it easy to carry and take on holiday, it is also very easy to set up.
Each side just needs to be simply lifted up to enable the locking action. The base then needs to be pushed down and clicked into place and voila, you have your cot up in minutes. The outer casing becomes the mattress which velcro’s into place, although it is a little hard so I may have to use something else underneath to make it a little cosier. I do think this is a common issue with travel cots and I remember having to overcome this problem for Jake.
One problem that has been eradicated with this style of travel cot is the draught issue. Jake’s second-hand cot only had one option for height whereas this style has another feature. The Joie travel cot comes with a clickable mesh level which enables you to create the bed higher up in the cot, perfect for smaller babies. This will eliminate the issue of them being in a draught at night and will also make it much easier for you to reach over to pick them up… if you have a c-section this is a valuable feature.
The changing cloud was the fiddly part to get together. The poles that it comes with are so tricky to get to lock in that it took more of my time than any other part of the cot! I’m not sure as to why it doesn’t come already made because there is no way I will be taking it apart ever again after that! Once completed it is a great feature to your travel cot and I am looking forward to being able to use this when we go on trips with our new baby. Not only is it soft and padded but it is also wipe clean. I remember the squeeze we had in the caravan in Cornwall and nighttime changes were a huge faff. With this cloud feature, I am going to be able to do it all so much faster and with less fuss.

It is very simple to pop back down too. Each side has a hidden button within the lining which you simply click and lift to then fold down which is much easier than the style I have previously used.
Of course, we couldn’t let a review go by without the star of the show getting in on the act…
He just wanted to make sure it was perfect for his little brother!

How did you make the changing table up….we’ve tried to get those clips in place and just can’t seem to do it!
I did struggle a bit but I thought it was because I was doing it alone. In the end, I slotted one bar through and pushed the attachment on one side but attached it to the opposite side on the other end. It then took some moving and pulling to line the other sides up and get them in at the same time (which is why I thought I needed a second pair of hands!) It was definitely fiddly and took some thinking about. I’m not sure why the rest is so simple to assemble and the changing table isn’t. Hope you can get it sorted x
Does all of it fit into the travel bag it comes with? I read somewhere it doesn’t
Yes, it all comes that way so you just have to ensure that you pack it back inside in the same way. We had another one that only went in a certain way too so it’s just the case of working it all out.
