Home Interiors Inspiration
*Collaborative Post
We have been in our current home for six years and even though we purchased it as our forever home, recently we have been wondering whether to move. Not because we don’t like the house but because we would like to live more in the countryside. However, due to high house prices, we have, for now, put these ideas on hold which will save us a lot of money and hassle but also means that I get given the go ahead to make a few changes to our current decor… thanks, hubby!
I am slightly DIY and home interiors obsessed and
spend far too much time perusing around certain homeware shops even when I don’t need anything! My house is my home and I love to make it look and feel warm and welcoming but I also enjoy adding items to further beautify each room. We live in a new build house and you would think that you would move in a not have to lift a finger… we were the opposite. If you follow my blog you will know that we have overhauled both the back and front gardens and we have added much-needed storage. We have also replaced most of the floors, decorated every room and tried to bring a bit of the country cottage feel into a modern home.
So, what fantastic changes can I make this year?
I have been thinking about our lighting and how every house in this street has exactly the same light fittings. I would like to make our home a little more unique which will, of course, give it a fresh edge if we do decide to sell in the future. Our fittings are all very basic and cheap. I’m not usually into dramatic pieces but if you can place one item just right I think it can make a great impact which is why I’ve had my eye on this for my dining room from Dandelion Interiors:
I just think it would look so classy in the evenings, especially for a dinner party and best of all it is in the sale at the moment.
Now if I have new lighting I may just need a brand new dining table for it to sit over! Ours was second hand and is very large but cannot be adjusted. I would love to have a real oak table which can be pulled out for the special occasions such as when we have parties or Christmas at ours and then be able to make it smaller and easier to move around. This one would be perfect:
Our bedroom furniture is currently all missed-matched because we haven’t had the money to overhaul the whole lot. We made a dent in it by buying new chest of drawers and bedside tables which match but the bed, dressing table and full-length mirror don’t. I would love to have it all looking sleek and new and I just love wooden furniture as I feel it never goes out of fashion. Another dream of mine has always been to have a four poster bed. I just think they are so classic and romantic:
Now I can’t just think of my areas in the home I also need to start to think about making changes to Jake’s room. He is now three and will be four in December and his room is still decorated like a nursery. I’ve been so reluctant to make these changes because it means admitting that he is no longer a baby and is actually a proper little boy who now has his own opinions, tastes and ideas. I think I can probably leave the colour scheme as it is ( green and yellow) but his white furniture could probably be replaced by something a little more grown-up now. I came across this funky chest of drawers and just fell in love with it:
Dandelion Interiors also have a fantastic range of antique decorative items and I have chosen a few which I know Jake would just adore:
I could easily add so much to each room in our house and I now also have some great ideas for family member’s birthdays.
Happy interiors shopping!
