The Benefits of Having An Extending Dining Table For Homeschooling

*Collaborative Post

I cannot stress enough, how much I LOVE my extending dining table! It’s been an absolute life-saver in the current circumstances whilst we’re homeschooling. I’ll be honest, I’m a very organised person anyway, but tackling the different subjects for my different aged children came to me as somewhat of a challenge, like every parent! However, I tackled it head-on and looked at what subjects Jake (6) had going on at school and decided to mostly homeschool the same subject but at different levels, so to cover both my children’s abilities (William is 2). I have to say, this wouldn’t have been possible without our trusty family dining table!

How To Build A Pallet Planter

Pallets are just so versatile and can be turned into almost anything but they can also be often overlooked and simply sent to the tip. I’ve had 2 sat around in my garage for over a year or so because I had no idea what to do with them. I see amazing creations online all the time but I honestly never thought I would be able to do any of them by myself. And then we found ourselves in lockdown due to the Coronavirus. Weeks were passing by and I was trying to find activities to keep all of us busy and so one pretty boring day, I grabbed a pallet and without having a clue about what I was doing I decided to give some DIY a go. The great thing about pallets is that there is plenty to play around with, they are (usually) free to source and if it goes wrong, what does it matter? At least you had a go and you could try and turn it into something else instead. I decided to build a pallet planter for our wall and this is how I achieved that.

6 Advantages of Having A Solid Wood Floor

*Collaborative Post

When we moved into our home 9 years ago, we were faced with a poorly fitted laminate floor, ugly tiles and a stained carpet which may only be cosmetic issues, but it was very important to me that these were changed as soon as possible. Of course, that meant that we began by doing it cheaply– it never pays off, does it? After a few years, we were again faced with laminate coming up in certain areas, movement of it in our hallway as well as it starting to look drab. After weighing up the options available to us online, we eventually agreed to invest in a solid wood floor for our living room and hallway and 5 years on we are still really happy with it. Here are our 6 advantages of having a solid wood floor in your home…

How to Choose the Perfect Pet for Your Child

*Collaborative Post

It’s a moment that many parents dread. Your kid is just old enough to talk, and they’ve been obsessed with the latest animal cartoons on TV. Suddenly, they turn to you and they know exactly what they want for birthday/Christmas/any other excuse they can come up with. They want a pet. It’s usually something fluffy and cute, but sometimes it can be other requests – a snake, a goldfish, an elephant (children’s minds work in mysterious ways). Of course, whether to get a pet depends entirely on your family’s circumstance and your own best judgement. However, though it may seem daunting, getting a pet can be a great way to teach your kid some fantastic life lessons, as well as socialising them and giving them a friend for life. Choosing the right pet is the first important step, and here are some tips to help with that decision.

Getting Started With Composting

When I first thought about starting composting, I just assumed that you threw your garden clippings and grass cuttings into a compost bin and left it to do its thing. After doing a fair bit of reading I am now over 6 months into our composting journey? Experiment? Trial? I’ll let you know which is the right word once I see some results!
