With our awareness of the need to reduce waste now growing and trying to find ways to be more eco-friendly, it is about time that we also turn this idea to those big times of year where we are all guilty of creating the most waste and using the most single-use items. Now, I don’t want the fun to be limited, that isn’t the point of this post. What I want to do is highlight where changes can be easily made and with Halloween just around the corner now is the time to get our thinking caps on to work out exactly how we can be more eco-friendly.

Starting out with cloth nappies can seem daunting for quite a few reasons and one that comes up most often (other than washing) is the initial set-up cost. Yep, I get that. When I first started looking at cloth I did what most people do and gasped at some of the prices. On my ever-growing quest to find more ways in which to be more eco-friendly, I hadn’t even considered the coffee pods that my husband was using in his new Nespresso machine. It’s amazing where plastic can lurk and even though they do offer a recycling service I am always a little sceptical about these things as the energy used to recycle, the carbon emissions created by delivery and collection all seem to outweigh the good that you think you are doing.
