Review | Beeutiful Black Pepper and Sandalwood Facial Balm for Men
*Gifted Product/Brand Ambassador
I received a very exciting package the other week– a brand new product released by Beeutiful and this time it wasn’t for me! Nope, my hubby finally had something to try out because Carly from Beeutiful has created a new facial balm for men.
Made again with her very own beeswax it also contains black pepper and sandalwood for a masculine scent that is just as hydrating as her women’s version, B-Rose facial balm. As an avid user of a lot of her products already I was really keen to see how this balm would work out for my husband’s skin. Here is our full review:
First Impressions of The Black Pepper and Sandalwood Facial Balm
The packaging really stood out to me as all of Beeutiful’s products have previously been very feminine looking and I loved the thought that had gone into making this different; the start of a new range in black and light blue named Beeutiful Man.
It looks so classy but at the same time, comes in its recyclable pot and makes it very clear point that it is natural and not tested on animals. This is one of the reasons that I love this brand. Carly is very passionate about providing natural and eco-friendly products as well as creating amazing skincare treatments for the whole family. This black pepper and sandalwood facial balm for men should do the following:
“With anti-inflammatory, astringent & soothing properties skin is instantly hydrated whilst also protected from the elements & all without clogging pores”
Beeutiful Website
Ingredients and Price
The facial balm is made from: Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango Butter), Cera Flava (Beeswax), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Butter), Macadamia Ternifolia (Macadamia) Oil, Rosa Mosqueta (Rosehip) Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Styrax Benzoin (Benzoin), Santalum Album (Sandalwood), Piper Nigrum (Black Pepper) Seed OIl & consequently Benzyl Benzoate, Benzoic Acid, Benzaldehyde, Furfurylpyrrole & Limonene
This 60 ml pot is priced at £22.50 and should last you around 5 months or more which means it will only be costing you around £4.50 per month.
The Scent
I don’t often cover the scent of products that I (we) review as it is usually quite a hard thing to describe but I wanted to bring this up as I know that Carly had received some feedback that the scent wasn’t actually strong enough. I thought this was quite an unusual point as I wouldn’t have thought that men would want something too overpowering on their face and when both myself and Rob smelt it, put it on our fingertips and applied it there was a gorgeous subtle blend of smells which we both agreed was just right. Rob’s feedback for this review was that he wouldn’t want to smell the balm throughout the day whilst at work and he definitely wouldn’t want his colleagues getting a waft of his skincare products. He told me that the scent was just enough for him and he wouldn’t need it to be stronger. He describes the aroma as earthy, a little woody but with a hint of oils.
Using The Black Pepper and Sandalwood Balm
Now, Rob doesn’t usually use any type of skincare products on his face so this was a new concept to him to apply a facial balm each day. He is very lucky with his skin because it doesn’t dry out, it doesn’t get too oily and he tans beautifully (git!) So, we really weren’t too sure how his skin would take to having this balm.
To begin with, he was using far too much. I did inform him that all of Beeutiful’s products are very hydrating and a small amount goes a long way but he needed to experiment during that first week to see how much his skin required. It turns out, not a lot at all. Beeutiful’s website does state:
“If you are using a facial balm for the first time & have been used to a cream moisturiser please use far less of our balm than your previous product. With zero water content a balm goes a long way & you’ll need less than you do a cream. Less is more with a balm so start with a pea-sized amount & add more if necessary. This 60ml jar (which when finished can be recycled) will probably last 5 months or more”
Rob’s skin in those first few days was most definitely over hydrated and because of his skin tone he reduced the amount down to just covering a few fingertips which gave him a light coverage and didn’t leave him shiny by the end of the day.
The oils in this facial balm are so rich and moisturising and you can feel that as soon as it is applied. It is quickly absorbed into the skin and Rob particularly liked the feel it gave after a shave each day.
Overall Thoughts of The Black Pepper and Sandalwood Facial Balm
Rob was really impressed with the facial balm and has told me that his face has felt softer, more hydrated and less flaky after shaving. It hasn’t clogged his pores or caused any outbreaks and even though he is still getting used to having a new skincare routine, he is definitely going to continue to use it in the future.
