12 Fun Home Learning Activities To Teach Your Kids About Environmental Issues

Talking to your kids about environmental issues may seem like a tricky task. There is so much you could delve into, there are a lot of facts and figures plus there are some topics that may be upsetting. As much as it is important to raise these issues with them, it is also vital that you do it in a way that is interesting, fun and will have a lasting effect… In the right way, of course! Here are my own fun home learning activities which will help to teach your kids (and you too) about environmental issues whilst also finding things that you could do as family to help to improve them.

In the last year I have been very active in talking about my eco-changes, explaining how I want to improve the way we live in order to help our environment and trying to raise awareness via my blog and social media, however, this eco way of thinking isn’t something that is entirely new to me; I was once a very passionate child and saving the planet was all I dreamt of. At the time I had the idea but I must admit that what with being a parent of two now, being tired most of the time and being quite stuck in my ways, I felt a little hesitant and apprehensive. It’s daft how we all get so Continue reading “How We’ve Been Making Positive Eco-friendly Changes”

The focus to be more ecologically friendly is definitely a big talking point at the moment and it’s making me think about how bad we are in our own home for throwing away too much plastic, using too many non-reusable items and not really thinking enough about what else can actually be recycled.

I think as a parent it can be a really tough area to crack, though. It is so easy to buy disposable nappies, wipes and anything that seemingly makes our lives simpler at a time when we are super busy and extremely tired but in the long run how much waste are we producing and how much money are we spending without realising? It’s going to take a bit of time to work out what I need to change overall, but to start with I have 5 focus areas:
