Right, so this week has been interesting to say the least! If you have been following me on social media you will by now be all too aware of the new Pampers influencer campaign designed to prove that their nappies are in fact the driest out there. Seems like the normal type of advert for single-use nappies right? Always trying to prove their nappies will keep a baby’s bum the driest. Yep, except that in this instance they decided to take their marketing steps too far by asking parents/influencers/bloggers to take 2 perfectly good nappies and soak them with water to really prove their point. Now, if that had been 1 nappy on a TV ad I doubt any of us would have batted an eyelid. I mean we’ve seen that most days on our screens for over 30 years now haven’t we? However, when they are asking 100’s of people to pour 200 ml of water on each of them to test which is drier on their cheeks all for a huge Instagram campaign, well that’s a different story… Continue reading “The Cheek Of Pampers: Why I’m Calling Them Out On Their #Cheektest”
We all want to live in stylish and visually appealing homes, and, increasingly, more and more of us are also becoming conscious of our impact on the environment, and mindful of the need to be environmentally responsible.
It turns out, there are plenty of things that you can do to turn your home into your own personal paradise, according to your particular aesthetic preferences, while also being careful to have the lightest possible environmental footprint in the process. Since we started using reusable nappies last June, I haven’t used a single disposable one. Nope, not when we went away for a weekend to Cornwall, not when William was in hospital with hand, foot and mouth and not even for swimming. Reusable all the way here now.
So, when somebody asked me if I was taking disposables to Florida with us I said no, of course not, yet they looked surprised Continue reading “You’re Taking Reusable Nappies Abroad With You??!!!”

Changing to cloth nappies has been a really positive move for us as a family. Not only are we reducing our waste and helping the environment, we are also saving money and in a year this could even amount to as much as £500! Children cost enough money as it is and I would rather spend those vital pennies on a day out than on something that will end up in a landfill.
Since writing about the change, I have been asked quite a few questions about how they work, what they are like, how washing impacts on my week and so on, so I thought the best way to help would be to answer all of these in one place. Continue reading “Your Cloth Nappy Questions Answered”
A little while ago I wrote about 5 changes I was planning on making to be more eco-friendly; do away with clingfilm, buy a compost bin, grow our own, switch to reusable nappies and reusable sanitary towels. At the time I had the idea but I must admit that what with being a parent of two now, being tired most of the time and being quite stuck in my ways, I felt a little hesitant and apprehensive. It’s daft how we all get so Continue reading “How We’ve Been Making Positive Eco-friendly Changes”
The focus to be more ecologically friendly is definitely a big talking point at the moment and it’s making me think about how bad we are in our own home for throwing away too much plastic, using too many non-reusable items and not really thinking enough about what else can actually be recycled.
I think as a parent it can be a really tough area to crack, though. It is so easy to buy disposable nappies, wipes and anything that seemingly makes our lives simpler at a time when we are super busy and extremely tired but in the long run how much waste are we producing and how much money are we spending without realising? It’s going to take a bit of time to work out what I need to change overall, but to start with I have 5 focus areas: Continue reading “5 Ways I’m Going to be More Ecologically Friendly”
