stethoscope and medical notes about health

If you know that you have a lot of bad habits then you will know how important it is for you to ditch them once and for all. You’ll also know how important it is for you to get things back on track and how you need to turn things around. Luckily, it is more than possible for you to ditch any bad habit that you have, and all you need is to have a little motivation and willpower.

Nail Biting

When you bite your nails, it can damage the outer layer of your teeth and it can also cause you to experience health problems. You may also have split nails and this can even lead to harmful bacteria as well. It doesn’t matter how clean your nails are because there is a high chance that there is a lot of bacteria under there and the last thing that you want is to chew on that. Your short-term plan to try and combat this would be for you to go for a professional manicure every couple of weeks. You’ll feel better and you’ll also be much less likely to chew on them as well. You could also try a product that makes your nails taste awful so that you can try and curb your habit once and for all. Nail biting is often a sign that you are anxious, so if you do feel this way then it helps to know why and it also helps to chat with your doctor to find out if there is any exploratory therapy available.

Lying to your Doctor

If you have a habit of lying to your doctor because you don’t want to go into some embarrassing story then you are absolutely not alone with this. The problem here is that it can lead to you getting diagnosed improperly and it may even mean that you don’t end up getting the right test done. The care that you receive is only as good as the communication that you have with your doctor. For example, a study was done on patients to find out how often they use their inhaler. 73% of them stated that they use it three times a day, but in reality, only 15% of them actually did. 14% of people also admitted to emptying their inhaler so that it looks like they are using it. To combat this habit, you need to be open with your doctor. You need to tell them about any unsafe practices that you have, your physical activity level and even your drug problems. This will help your doctor to get a much better idea of who you are and it will also help them to treat you as well. Your doctor works for you at the end of the day, and you are not giving away any secrets that you have. What you are really doing is sharing them with someone who is trying to help you.

Emotionally Eating

If you eat because of stress, or even because of boredom then you are not eating for the right reasons. In this situation, you probably won’t reach for the celery sticks. Instead, you’ll reach for chips, cookies or any other unhealthy food. If you keep on giving your body this kind of fatty or even sugary calorie rush then this can cause you to develop diabetes and it can even lead to you becoming obese as well. If you want to kick this habit then try and work out some short-term goals. It helps to have a food journal and it also helps to know what you eat and when. Rate your hunger on a scale of 1 to 10 when you are hungry and know that you are only ever truly hungry if you are a 7 or above. If you find it hard to stop snacking then know that emotional eating is often transformed into physical hunger. It’s important that you know there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, and that there are plenty of resources out there that can give you the support you need. Not Flossing

Flossing helps to prevent gum disease and it also helps to keep your teeth and gums looking great. It can also help to stave off any mouth-related diseases as well. 90% of dentists believe that their patients don’t floss enough so this is something that you seriously need to think about. If you want to create a short-term plan then consider investing in a device that will help you to get a piece of floss whenever you need it. This makes the whole process easier and faster. You can even try and floss during your morning and nightly brushing routine as well. Think of it like taking a shower, because it really is something that you should be doing every single day.
