My journey to be more eco-friendly has really ramped up this year. After discovering cloth nappies and wipes in 2018 I was more determined than ever to add to this over the coming years and I am pretty pleased with how much I have tried, I have achieved and I have persuaded my husband to go with too!! (Lord knows that was the hardest part of it all!) So, instead of rambling on in another post on how to do this and that I thought I would just give you a very quick list of our eco-friendly swaps to date.

My eco topics category is my latest addition to my blog. I decided to make changes to my lifestyle in 2018 because I knew we needed to take steps to become more eco-friendly. It began with the change to reusable nappies and wipes and from there I made a promise to continue to try and find other ways to improve our wasteful ways and at the same time offer up tips, advice and hopefully inspire others.
Making these changes has had such a positive impact on us as a family. We are enjoying finding new ways of doing things, we love talking about it with others and we are saving money too! Such a win! Eco topics are now a huge passion of mine and I hope you will enjoy them as much as we are.

Small Businesses: What Could You Do To Be More Sustainable In 2020?
*Collaborative Post
The new year is almost upon us. And for business owners that means it’s time to start looking to the challenges that the new year will bring. It’s time to think about how you’ll hold your own as the market grows more competitive. It’s time to think about what will happen as the economy grows more uncertain with the looming issue of Brexit (whether you voted for it or not, there’s no denying that it will have long term economic repercussions including the possibility of a recession). But perhaps most importantly of all, it means doing your part to ensure that your business leads the charge for sustainability and ecological awareness. Given that our PM couldn’t be bothered to even turn up to a debate on climate change, it’s up to the UK’s businesses and entrepreneurs to show how much they care about a sustainable business future.

Popper or Velcro Cloth Nappies?
The popularity of cloth nappies is clearly growing and for me, this is a great sign! I love seeing more parents showing off their latest prints, their babies fluff bums and yelling at the top of their voices about helping the planet. It is such a step in the right direction. Of course, with this new interest comes plenty of questions and those questions are always good. Never ever think that a cloth nappy question is stupid because if you are asking it, you have a reason for that and if one person can answer it quickly and easily for you, that may help to keep you on the cloth nappy path and prevent you from reverting back to disposables. I’ve answered a lot of the usual cloth nappy questions here (washing, myths, costs etc) but this post is going to cover whether you should you go for popper or velcro cloth nappies.

Should We Be Going Meat-Free?
*Contains ad link
Should we be going meat-free? This is something I have been going back and forth with over the last year I’d say. Having watched my sister turn Vegetarian last year and thinking she was mad after over 30 years of being a meat-eater, I am now contemplating joining her. Why? Because I feel that I need to do more for our planet and going meat-free could have the biggest impact.
I have watched a lot of TV programmes in the last 18 months and I am very aware of our plastic problem, of the need to cut back on what we buy and the importance of making better product choices BUT

Using Cloth Nappies on Holiday
When it comes to using cloth nappies, I use them full-time for my son so when I go on holiday I personally don’t see why that would change. For me, this is my routine. William wears cloth nappies, not disposables (anymore) and so far since using reusables, each of my holidays or trips has allowed for that to continue. Here’s how I use cloth nappies whilst on holiday…

*Gifted Product
In my bid to make my life far more eco-friendly, I am always on the lookout for anything that will help our planet. Whether that is making a small swap like using bars of soap, reusing shopping bags, taking my own bottled water out or bigger things like switching to cloth nappies and reusable wipes, every small change is for the better. One area that is always going to be tough is not always buying new. I have made the step towards checking pre-loved sites more and learning which charity shops have the best turnover of stock but there will always be items that I am not willing to purchase secondhand or which may not be available. With this in mind, I have to learn to shop as eco-friendly as I can, I have to choose better quality items that will last and can then be passed on once we are done with them and I need to look into how those items have been produced. I know that this may sound a bit much but in our current climate, we all need to be more responsible when it comes to our lifestyles.
