An LED dimmer switch should make a room more comfortable and flexible. It can soften living-room lighting in the evening, reduce glare from kitchen downlights or let one lighting scheme support several different uses.
The difficulty is that “LED compatible” does not mean every dimmer will work with every LED lamp, fitting or driver. A successful dimming circuit depends on several components working together, and a mismatch can lead to flicker, buzzing, a restricted dimming range or lights that do not switch on and off cleanly.
