7 Fantastic Sustainable Bathroom Product Ideas

*Ad

When it comes to making your home a little more sustainable, I always say to start small, look at what you think is possible for you to change and start in one room. The bathroom is probably one of the most popular rooms for you to begin with because this is the room that has an awful lot of plastic staring at you each time you enter and as there are plenty of plastic-free alternatives now available these should help you to choose which items you could swap out quite easily. Of course, as with all eco changes, not all will work for you and that’s ok. Making more sustainable choices for the planet has to be sustainable for you, there is no point in struggling on when it doesn’t work for you or you know you won’t be able to keep it up. We all have different lifestyles and needs and this journey is all about you, nobody else. To give you a good starting point, I have teamed up with SaveMoneyCutCarbon to bring you these 7 fantastic sustainable bathroom product ideas…

How To Make a Pond Out of a Planter

*Affiliate Links

I had always wanted to have a pond in my garden but with it being very small plus with having pets and children I just felt as though it was something I couldn’t ever do whilst we were living in our current home. But then I saw a large planter for sale for just £10 on Facebook Marketplace and some ideas started flying around my head. I immediately bought it and began to research how I could transform this into a pond that would fit in our garden, that would suit the style of our garden, that would attract wildlife but would also be safe for the children. It was a project of love. I enjoyed every moment of planning and putting it all together, and now I just cannot get enough of sitting out in my garden looking at my pretty new pond. So I thought I would jot down how I went about creating a pond out of a planter.

As a pet owner, I am always conscious of what we purchase, what waste we produce (or they produce) and how even our beloved animals also come with a carbon footprint – yes, that’s right even our pets contribute towards global warming. In the UK alone we are reported to own around 12 million pets – that’s 44% of us who own a pet of some variety, so what exactly does this look like in terms of emissions?

bambino mio review

Bambino Mio Review

When we started looking into cloth nappies, it was very overwhelming. There were many brands, different types of nappies, a lot of terms, and as somebody who had used disposables with her first child, I had a lot to learn. Thankfully there are some cloth nappy brands out there that can make this switch really simple by being manufactured to be quite similar in style to disposable nappies and this was why I confidently took our first steps into the cloth nappy world with the all-in-one Bambino Mio. In this Bambino Mio review I will provide everything we have experienced in using them, how they fit, absorbency, care and our overall thoughts.

12 Tips For A Simple Transition Into Potty Training

*Affiliate Links

A few weeks ago we decided to see if William was ready to take the plunge and attempt to potty train (I hate this term, if you’ve followed me for a while you will know this but it is the most recognisable term so I will use it here – I just don’t believe in “training” our kids). Anyway, I was pretty sceptical as he’d never shown any interest in trying pants on previously, his speech is still a little behind so I wasn’t sure he would be able to tell us that he needed to go in time plus he just adores his cloth nappies – as do I!! However, I was proved completely wrong and he happily gave it a go and I can (sob) report that he hasn’t worn a daytime nappy since.

baba and boo review

Baba and Boo Review

I have always said that using cloth nappies should be simple. I believe there is a nappy out there to suit everyone and that once you find it, using cloth will be a joy and this is exactly what happened when we discovered Baba and Boo 3 years ago. I was very lucky that this brand came as a recommendation by a friend and that as soon as I fitted our first one, I was hooked! Baba and Boo have seen us through every single day of our cloth nappy journey and because of their reliability, their stunning prints, their comfortable fit, they have made using cloth a breeze and so I thought I would write up a full Baba and Boo review so others could find out all of the relevant information and decide if this brand is the one for them too.

Review | Jody and Lara Sustainable Kids Swimwear

*Ad

When it comes to sourcing our clothing I am trying my best to seek out either pre-loved or sustainable items because I no longer want to contribute to the fast fashion industry. The damage it causes to our planet, the pollution, the unethical practices involved including unfair pay and poor working conditions for staff are something I think we all need to be aware of in order to be able to make informed decisions on where to spend our money and I know it isn’t always overly clear but I promise with a little bit of digging you may begin to think about shopping very differently.

Luckily, there are now plenty of companies who are both sustainable and ethical, who want to provide well-made clothing without damaging our environment and who care about their workers, their consumers and the planet. Jody and Lara are one such company, providing sustainable swimwear for kids that you will just love.
