Why I Was Wrong About Co-Sleeping

Before you become a parent you know it all, don’t you? I mean, how many times did you look at a parent and think my kid wouldn’t be stropping in the street like that, my kid will eat all their dinner, no fuss from my amazing imaginary children! My baby will be in a great routine from early on, oh and they will never, ever sleep in the bed with me. Yeah, this was me all over and I’m here to admit it because at the end of the day I had no clue, not one at all. I assumed far too much, I had never experienced the type of sleep deprivation that comes with children (only from drunken nights out!). I had never had a tiny person rely on me 24/7 and I never had to question every decision I made throughout the day– over and over and over again.

55 Things a Preemie Parent Doesn’t Want to Hear (and tips on what to say and do)

When you become a preemie parent your entire newborn journey alters. You are thrown into a world that is scary, upsetting, unnerving and completely unpredictable. You lose all those firsts that should experience and you return home without your baby.

Even after your baby does come home, times can be tough and not all stories are straightforward. Whatever the situation is, those parents require support both emotional and physical. They need people to understand what they are going through and, most importantly, they need these people to be saying and asking the right things. Unfortunately, there are a lot of (ahem)

10 Things I’ve Learnt Since Becoming a Mum Again

Having your first baby is a huge learning curve. The nappies, the sleepless nights, breastfeeding, teething, weaning, learning to leave the house with the biggest bag packed full of items to prepare you for every possible circumstance. You cry, you laugh, you wonder why you did it one minute and the next you are beaming with pride… it’s a funny old time but you get there. The first year passes and your tiny baby gradually turns into an actual little person and then you have all sorts of other areas to contend with; toddler anyone?! Tantrums, potty training, why Mummy but why’s?!

And then you decide to do it all over again…

What’s it Like to have a Baby with Reflux?

Reflux. It’s a word I’d heard of previously, just as I had done with Colic but when your first child has no issues with these things there isn’t any need to look into it further or discover what it actually means to have a baby with either or even both of these conditions. Well, my wake up call has come– quite literally! My newest addition has been suffering for weeks now and no matter what we try there doesn’t seem to be much let up…

The Fourth Trimester Has Arrived!

It feels a bit odd to be writing about the fourth trimester when I never actually got the chance to write about the third. I had wanted to document each trimester of my pregnancy and enjoy talking about it all but as William decided the third trimester wasn’t entirely needed I just jumped straight to our birth story instead!!

So, the fourth trimester eh? (Yes, tri does mean three so we’ll just ignore that technicality) I will be honest,

7 Reasons Why Colic Sucks!

My second child has colic, something that we never really had to deal with the first time and I can honestly say that it sucks! I never fully understood the ‘my baby doesn’t sleep’ thing. Yes, child number one would feed a lot which would have me up every couple of hours at night but we were very lucky that we didn’t experience the screaming we are seeing now. It’s suddenly like being a first-time Mum all over again, new things to learn and new conditions to pull my hair out over!
