Creating a Garden the Whole Family Will Love

*Collaborative Post

When you’ve got kids, your garden changes a little. It goes from your space to relax, unwind and entertain, to your kids play paradise. Kids absolutely love being outdoors, playing in the mud or riding their bikes. In no time, you can find that all of your lovingly planted flowers have been trodden on, your garden has been overrun with outdoor toys, and the decking that once played home to family BBQs and summer parties is now covered in mud and houses only broken toys and a paddling pool.

While it’s great to let your kids explore safely outside, it doesn’t mean that you have to lose everything you once loved about your outside area. There’s no reason that you can’t all have the garden of your dreams. It’ll just take a little planning and effort. Here are some tips to set you up for creating a family garden that everyone will love!

Bringing Your Garden To Life With Trees

*Collaborative Post

If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know that gardening is one of my passions. However, you will also know that when we were in the process of house buying this was, unfortunately, the one area that we had to compromise on due to house prices and even though we have now lived in our new build for 6 years, I am still working hard on the garden in order to mature it and to give it that homely feel. For me, the garden is an extension of your home and it deserves just as much attention as the house does. I have such fond memories of playing in the garden as a child with one of the best parts being that we had an apple tree. We had hours of fun climbing it, hanging a rope from it to swing on and collecting the cooking apples for my Nan to make crumbles with. I don’t think you need to have a garden full of toys, you just need children with a good imagination. I also believe that it is very important to get kids into gardening too, even in simple ways such as watering, growing strawberries or just by having a place where they can happily dig and play.

The floral scents of the blossoming spring perennials and the fruiting apple trees coming into their own in late August are two of the many things that you adore about your garden. The outdoor space that you’ve lovingly created is a haven for relaxing, a peaceful alfresco dining area and a place where your kids can frolic on hot, balmy summer days. But now that the cooler days have descended and you’re looking forward to wintertime huddled up around a roaring fire with your family, you may think that you are saying goodbye to another season of garden usage. However, that’s where you’d be wrong. Take a look at these incredible ways that you can still completely utilise your garden this winter.
